Some great films to begin with...

And The Last Unicorn.

I'd be annoyed at someone slamming The Last Unicorn on my watch, but it didn't make the cut for my list, so who am I to argue.

Also, this thread is starting to bring down the wrath of the hotlinking gods.

Yeah Photobucket or similar is your friend when it comes to images for LOC posts (and in general often).

Love Herzog, none of his film even occured to me while making a list of film from the '80s though.

Are all art films going to have the same sort of vitriol as Paris, Texas and Fitzcarraldo did?

Also, the rankings should go like this (I'm getting really bothered by missing the point of the tie-breaking tiers.  There is a point to the number of lists in the top rankings within those list, ya know.  It just starts to look messy when there are 4 ties when there really aren't)

78. Fitzcarraldo
77. The Burbs
76. Hairspray
75. When Harry Met Sally
74. The Last Unicorn
73. Sixteen Candles
72. Beverly Hills Cop
71. Paris, Texas
70. Pretty In Pink
69. Revenge of the Nerds

So all you got to do is switch some stuff around, number it correctly and change the title to Top 78 (that is how many you said there'd be, right?)

None of my picks yet, but I'm sure they'll come along.

50c. The Burbs

(29 points, 3 lists of 24, highest ranking: #9 Smoky)

Great to see The 'Burbs make the list, and with a top-ten vote to boot! I had it at #18. I love this movie, and I've seen it more times than I can remember. Some great characters and several classic, quotable scenes.

I was just watching my number 5 pick last night and I wish I had placed it higher. I shall write an intense review when it shows up on the list

My thoughts so far:
1) Darth, we get it, you hate fat chicks. Feel free to stop mentioning it
2) I will cut the man that be dissin Last Unicorn!
Anais is the Coolest Butterfly I know  ;D

The "vitriol" was just me trying to be funny based on the silly premise, since for some of these lower ranking movies I haven't seen them. No offense is intended.

And anais, also no offense meant. It's not like I have "no fat chicks" painted on the side of my van or anything.

It's wierd, the previews came up just fine when I posted the pictures last night.

Yeah that's often the way, I think due to the image being cached when you're viewing it.

Generally when I've done a LOC I host all of the images for it in a folder on my photobucket account, that way I'm not using anyone's bandwidth except mine/theirs and the chance of a pissy message being substituted is eliminated. :)

I think I'll try that for the others (and fix the few that are broken) tonight.

Only complaint I have is that the parody trailer for Hairspray is actually a parody trailer of the remake and not the original film.

But other than that nit-pick, great job so far.

Had Pretty In Pink at 11 and Beverly Hills Cop at 23.  Re-watched Beverly Hills Cop recently and was surprised by how well the film holds up and how funny it still is.

Don't know if I agree with the ranking system that Darth Geek is using, but it is his list to run and the list master has ultimate say in how he wants to handle tie-breakers.  More films will make the final list and have entries this way, I guess.

Me too.  Sometimes the pissy message is a NSFW image.  (Tub Girl comes to mind as one I have seen on this board when someone linked to an image that the owner didn't want linked to.)  Not fun, or funny.

(if you don't already know what Tub Girl is, don't try to find out, you don't want to know.)

Great movie clip #1

Fitzcarraldo

I really need to try this at a party sometime.
