Manos vs Jack the Giant Killer?

(1/2) > >>

ZJ:
JTGK > Manos, by a nose IMO.

RoninFox:
For me, Jack started out slow and got steadily funnier until it reached awesomeness. Manos got to awesome fast and stayed there. They're kind of close, but Manos wins for me.

Darth Geek:
Jack wins it for me, because it was something new. And in Manos I would occasionally think of the MST3K riffs and kinda think that was funnier.

And Jack the Giant Killer had "Seize the bone!" and "Be right there."

KidFlash:
But... the White Trash Twilight sketch....

Trekker4747:
Ahhh the White Trash Twilight sketch, well done guys.  :)

I might say Manos wins over Jack but just. Mostly because in all fairness Jack was a "good" movie. It kids movie for sure and certainly with flaws but it was at least competently made.  Just corny when watched with adult eyes.  Manos manages to fail on many levels so it's just that much more "deserving" of being made fun of.  The movie's badness is legendary which is also what is going to help "Birdemic."    I think the shorts before "Manos" also were a lot funnier. (Though, again, Jack has its moments.)  Manos also skips all the nonsense (the Lotax shorts are humorous but not necessary like when the first RT:Live event had a musical act and comedy sketches and such) and just gets right to the riffing of the shorts and movie. Further highlighted by the "Takin' it Easy" lyrical parody over the end credits.

I just sort of wish maybe a quick "history" of the movie was given beforehand. I mean it'd be hard for "new comers" to Manos or even Birdemic to really appreciate how truly bad the movie is without knowing the history behind it.

I mean, tell someone that Manos was made on a bet by a fertilizer salesman using nothing but a hand-cranked camera that couldn't record sound (requiring two or three people to ADR in EVERYONE'S dialogue in "post") and only a minute of video.  I mean the story behind Manos is part of the "fun" in it!  So a "crash course" on the history of the movie to be riffed would also be a bit welcomed.
