LoC #63 - Submissions for Top 50 Songs from Movies

(1/21) > >>

wurwolf:
Fair warning: I have no idea what I'm doing.

Alright, since Monty was going to run this LoC but now will not be doing it, I'm going to try to make it happen, with Tripe backing me up on keyboards and possibly APGIL on drums (DB on tamborine or something). You should all know the rules by now, but I'm copying this from Compound's post for LoC #62:

--- Quote ---You send me your Top 25 list of top tabletop games via PM.  I will compile all lists received into a master List.  Your list will be assigned points as follows:  25 points for your number 1, 24 points for your number 2, and so on until your number 25 gets one point.

If you don't submit a full list of 25, that is acceptable, but your choices will have fewer points.  A list of 10 entries will only have 10 points for 1st place.  And so on.

Got a question on whether or not something is allowed? Ask.
--- End quote ---

So the subject at hand is songs from movies, and I don't remember what rules Monty had before he deleted his post, so we'll just wing it here.

• Movies can be anything shown in the theater -- drama, comedies, musicals, documentaries, thriller, horror, and so on. Shorts may or may not be allowed? Opinions, please.
• It has to be a song with a name. Please do not submit a score.
• Please don't tell  me, "It's that song from Exorcist and I can't remember the name but I'll hum it for you" because that will literally kill me (even though I know the song from the Exorcist is "Tubular Bells"). Help a sister out and be specific with your entries.
• Partial songs are allowed (like the song was playing in the background of a scene, or on the radio as two characters are driving through the Arizona desert or whatever).

I believe Monty said we had until Monday, August 20 at midnight, so let's let that stand. People have already been working on their lists and it's easier for me to do all of this at work rather than the weekend.

I am excited about this list and can't wait to see it happen! It should be a large enough subject where we'll get some interesting entries.

Johnny Unusual:
Hmm... When you say scores don't count, I assume you mean scores in their entirety but musical pieces from a movie (like Tubular Bells) with a proper name do, right?

Not that it matters to me, since I don't think I'll include any musical pieces except one with vocals.  Maybe.

That is exactly what I mean. The entire score from Jaws wouldn't count, but if you said "The Theme from Jaws" then, yes, that would count.

Mrs. Dick Courier:
Well, I've worked mine down to 35, very painful for me cutting some of these songs.

I now have no songs from Dirty Dancing on my list, who would have thought?

Johnny Unusual:
Have you ever felt this way before?
