At least when you get off work you can enjoy the morning (cooler) parts of the sun and beer.
And there will be little in the way of drama and supervisor/manager BS too :o

Oh wow. That's just the epitome of cleverness.

I think I'm Facebook friends with maybe two people I work with. I would never in a million years be a friend or a fan of my employer or supervisor.

Finished my first ever 3rd shift at work last night and I am friggin tired  :-[

Then I go back in this evening from 6:30pm - 2:30am the next 4 days, then full time 3rd shift next week for an unknown length of time..

All these shift changes are really starting to wear on me..
JUST PUT ME ON THE FUCKIN WEEKEND SHIFT ALREADY AND LEAVE ME THERE FOR FRIGS SAKES!!!

I love getting asked dumb questions, and then when I could give two shits about answering them then I am the asshole!

I am the boss where I work and I would never want to be Facebook friends with anyone I work with, just too potentially problematic.

So today is supposed to be my Friday but was asked to come in 4:30pm - 10:30pm tomorrow to help cover for a 1st shift guy taking a vacation day so it will be all overtime and another short weekend for me.. :-\

I also put in for another Quality Coordinator position that was posted on the company website but not on the job-openings board to see if I have a shot at that position.. It's apparently for a new line of engine parts we will be coating for GM by next year (lifters, rocker arms, and other engine parts).
I originally put in for that position but was passed by and the job given to another guy off the street but I was talked into accepting my current coating tech position (since I guess I impressed them enough that they wanted to hire me anyway)  and now that another opening has cropped up, I would think I have a pretty good shot at it BUT..

There tends to not be much promotion from within but a lot of hiring from outside from what I've seen as of late..
Example: There was a 3rd shift maintenance position that was open and a couple coworkers put in for it. The question was asked "If you don't get this job, will you still do a good job for us?" which basically told them they were out of the running before they came in for the interview and sure enough, they hired a military veteran who was a helicopter mechanic in some branch of the service that started this week.
The company is big on hiring military veterans and they must get some kind of kick-back from the government for each one they hire but I'm not content to be a simple coating tech my entire career there. I think my 2 college degrees should count for something! I would think they could hire another military veteran to fill my spot should I be allowed to take that Quality Coordinator job..

All in all, I'm not keeping my hopes up for getting this position :-[

Yeah, new positions at current employees are always an interesting pattern.   I've always found it best not to anticipate that many things so when they do happen, that is a nice feeling.

If/when I get interviewed and they ask me that question about still doing a good job for them if I don't get the position, my response will be of course I will but I am not content to remain in my current position my entire career here..
I may even throw them a question "so are you saying there is little hope for advancement with this company since there is such a big push for hiring other military veterans off the street?" To see there response..

I don't want to seem to blunt about it but I'm not just gonna keep putting in for position after position (that I feel I'm qualified for of course) only to be turned down each time!

My boss just called me. "I was just trying to do something in Lotus Notes and I cut it out by using ctrl + c and I didn't want to do that. How do I put it back?"

I shit you not. I had to walk him through the ctrl + z feature.

I cannot stop laughing.
