At least let him have his innocence for a few days before all his hopes and dreams are crushed. That's all I'm saying. :D

He's a bot!! BAN HIM!!! (for newbie reference, read the RRRRRAAAARRRGGGHH!! thread)
Anyways, welcome!!! I definitely recommend the VOD movies and shorts for "classic" mst3k feel... especially the most recent VOD movies. Those struck me as being "old style" riffs. For a moment or two, I forgot that I wasn't actually watching an episode of MST3k.
...but I wouldn't get your hopes up by expecting ANY real references to the TV show or its characters. Rifftrax is a whole other entity, and the MST3k characters, the shadowrama, and all the names etc do not belong to Rifftrax.... So don't expect Tom Servo or Crow to ever be involved in a Rifftrax. Occasionally a few "Hey why does this seem familiar!?" jokes are made if something on screen resembles anything from MST3k... but Rifftrax is not "MST3k Redux"
Although, the personality styles are still very much there... Mike still makes dumb lame puns that upset the other 2. Bill still responds to jokes Mike/Kevin make as if he thinks they're talking directly to him. Kevin still gets far too excited about a dumb joke he's gone out on a limb to make. They basically have their "characters" they stick to pretty well.... but those characters are "Mike" "Bill" and "Kevin"
Anyways, WELCOME!!! ...and try not to take any cynical posts here on the forum TOO personally, and you'll do fine.

There is a LOT of cynicism and sarcasm on this board, but it is usually good-natured and not malicious.
Hope you stick around. Just remember - RIFFTRAX IS NOT MST3K 2.0! (Who here remembers that moldy oldie from the early days of Rifftrax? Alas poor Tarantulas, we hardly knew ye. "first 1000 posts", my ass!)
For those that don't know or weren't here in 2006 - a member named Tarantulas who posted A LOT here in the early days, would always take offense and argue with folks who compared Rifftrax to MST3K. And then would argue with those of us who generally agreed with the whole Rifftrax is not MST3K thing but didn't like the way he talked to people, newbies in particular. Called himself the #1 Rifftrax fan and generally made an ass of himself. Shocking I know on this board, but there you go. Anyway, he once posted that phrase very large and very bold - RIFFTRAX IS NOT MST3K 2.0! when arguing with a newbie that I guess sent him over the edge.
RIFFTRAX IS NOT MST3K 2.0! is second only to Greg McDuck's SELLOUTS! in my opinion but only because Bill Corbett was involved in that one.
Reproted! (a typo grown into a board meme) seems to be the meme du jour nowadays.
Sorry, went off on a bit of a tangent there.
