Yeah, I'm surprised so many people thought of it.  Easy to miss, but in the show and such, they are specifically referred to as Muppets, despite the fact that they never expressly say what a muppet is.

I mean, there are people and animals and monsters and god knows what. I guess that just never registered as a race or a species. Oh well, it wouldn't have changed the top spot, anyway.

Cool, dragons. Had a feeling from the get-go they were gonna come out on top.

I totally get people not voting for things like the Parliament of Trees or Candy People (though I think there was a boost from Invader Quirk) but I REALLY wanted the Bizarros to make it, even if just at the very end.  There a little creepy, but mostly endearing in their crazy backwards planet of Htrae (which is, of course, a square).

Agreed with DB's observation that you did a great job on the list, Johnny. The commentaries were awesome and For the Dar-Win was perhaps the most inspired bit I've seen since Krampus' commentary.

Agreed.  The bar has been set pretty high for whoever does future lists.  I know if and when I ever host another one I am going to be putting a lot more effort into being entertaining.

Great list overall, still. I second what folks are saying on the commentaries, that'll be a tough act to follow. I don't have my list on this computer, and by the time I get to it this will be a thing of the past, so let me just say that I'm somewhat ashamed that none of you saw fit to go with these guys:

LOTS of great things didn't make it.  I actually have a confession.  I haven't seen much Invader Zim, but while I like what I've seen (just 3 or 4 eps a few years ago) I didn't think much of the Irkens.  They seemed like pretty generic invaders.  When they got up high, I was a little dissappointed, thinking "oh, it was chosen probably because the show was funny, not because the race is anything special."  So it made me happy that when it placed, you guys where in fact talking about what made the race and their culture cool, rather than just what a funny show it is.  This made me happy, and restored my faith in what makes fandom great... focusing on the details.  BTW, if you like Invader Zim, read Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee, Jhonan Vasquez's far less kid friendly comics.
