With a little know how you could make some relatively complex circuit boards, you could conceivably draw a very basic computer on a piece of paper (obviously adding a few things). I've seen people make entire computers in Minecraft using redstone which is conceptually the same thing as this. I could definitely see this as a very useful teaching aid.

Do the squiggly lines and circuit shapes really mean anything, or could you just draw a horseshoe shape and connect it?

no, they don't mean anything. the silver stuff is the "wire". you would need extra bits (like the battery or the circle bit that the LED is attached to) to do anything. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/electroninks/circuit-scribe-draw-circuits-instantly

This is cool, but I don't know how you would do anything more than lighting an LED.  You can't cross traces.  You can't use normal components.  You couldn't use any parts with a fine pitch.  All the squiggles and shapes do is try to make is look more complex than it is.

For my money, I'd like a 3D printer that can print out circuit boards.

This too would be totally conceivable by adding some sort of conductive resin to a 3D printer. It would also be cool if you could but the above ink in an ink jet printer to make basic circuits.

It could be useful if you stuck this ink into a regular paper printer, print onto multiple sheets of paper, then stack them up and punch rivets into where the vias go.  If you could figure out a decent way to mount parts, you might have something.
