Sounds levels and the hardest sync line EVAR!
« on: March 04, 2007, 07:43:42 PM »
Is it just me, or did this release seem especially quiet?  I ended up having to normalize the track to get it to work with Gammer's guide.

Also, the "Oh God" line was hard to sync out of reference with the film... anyone else had issues?

Yeah, they mixed it very quietly this time.  I did a 5dB amplify in Audacity and it came out about right.

Hey Lads,

Check out this thread:

This is what I use when a 2 channel is not available (ie. 6 channel only).

I've used Goldwave's match volume in the past to success. I found the Road House rifftrax to have a very low volume and I had Goldwave match the movie's audio level to the Rifftrax. It worked great. I haven't authored the Wicker Man, yet, though.

Usually i just use a little compression on both tracks, with a little make upgain.  This way i get a pretty even level for both tracks, the quite dialog in the movie comes up a bit, and the loud bits come down.. usually i just use the same settings with a little bit of tweeking and all ends up well.  Granted, I usually have a bit of time on my hands so i can tinker with it.

I just noticed the sound level, too. It looks like it's evenly at -12dB. I'll have to boost it by 11dB.

BTW, I use Adobe Audition and the Envelope Follower effect to perfectly blend the riff track and the movie track. Someday I might post a tutorial.
