Peter Cook

My thoughts:
Not really familiar with his work.  I have seen Bedazzled, but it was a long time ago.  I may have to check out more of his work.  Any recommendations?

The sketches Cook did with Beyond the Fringe (with Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett) were pretty damn funny. Great stuff if you're a fan of satirical, absurdist type humor.

Mike Myers

My thoughts:
I consider Mike Myers a comic genius and wish he would make more movies.  I especially love the Austin Powers flicks.

The Wiki:
Michael John "Mike" Myers (born May 25, 1963) is a Canadian actor, comedian, screenwriter, and film producer of British parentage. He was a long-time cast member on the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live in the late 1980s and the early 1990s and starred as the title characters in the films Wayne's World, Austin Powers, and the Shrek film series.

Charlie Chaplin

I had Chaplin on my list at #24; kind of a throwaway pick, really. I love good physical comedy and he was a master of it. But now I'm just thinking of the people I should've included and instead of using a throwaway pick on Chaplin, I should've included someone lesser known,  but more hilarious. I kinda fucked up on this list.  :-\

Tina Fey

I think I appreciate Fey more as a writer than a performer. My lack of appreciation of her stems from the fact I don't much care for 30 Rock, and as a result, don't watch it. Just never clicked with that show for some reason; it always came off as a little too cartoonish for me. I know I'm really in the minority with that opinion, as the show is both insanely popular and critically acclaimed. Hell, Amy Poehler didn't even make my final list (although in retrospect, I blew that one, too) and I find Poehler way funnier than Fey.

John C. Reilly

Reilly didn't make my list, but he's pretty damn funny. Steve Brule is classic, and I love his work with Ferrell.

Mike Myers

I was never a huge fan. I appreciated a lot of his work on SNL, but he just never got big laughs out of me.

Man, I got to get familiar with his work.  Brilliant stuff.

John C. Reilly

That's who I forgot!  He would have been low on the list, but I probably would have put him on if I remembered him.  Fantastic performer and yes, the Steve Brule stuff is great.

Mike Myers

[/center]

Sigh.  And I'm not sighing because I dislike Mike Myers.  I don't.  I get people voting for him... based on some older work.  But it's been a LONG time since he's done something I've liked.  I used to love him on SNL and the first Austin Powers was fantastic.  But I think that he's really lost it since Austin Powers success.  I really want him to be good again.  Please?  You can never prevent the Love Guru from happening but it doesn't mean it's impossible.  Does it?

Also, if you go back to the Austin Powers well, just do a Dr. Evil movie.  He was the real star of that franchise.

Hooray for John C. Reilly! I first noticed him in Boogie Nights but he's done other fantastic, hilarious stuff. Walk Hard was criminally under-appreciated, in my opinion.

Favorite scene from Boogie Nights. Check out that sweet dancing action at :53.

Didn't include Charlie Chaplin on my list because he seemed kind of a one trick pony, and the whole Little Tramp shtick never appealed to me. I might be wrong about the one trick pony thing -- maybe he did other acts of which I'm not aware.

Also, is it just me or could John C. Reilly totally play Doc Watson in the biopic of his life?

I always thought The Love Guru character should have just been saved to be the bad guy for Austin Powers 4.  That movie did stink, but even the greatest comedy legends had their misses.

Amy Poehler

My thoughts:
I absolutely loved Amy Poehler when she was on SNL.  She may be one of my all time favorite cast members on that show.  Haven't seen too much of Parks and Recreation though and need to sit down one day and marathon it on Netflix Streaming.  Fun fact:  I share a birthday with Amy, we were both born on the same day back in 1971. Oh and Wet Hot American Summer is an awesome movie, despite the fact that Janeane Garofalo is also in it.

The Wiki:
Amy Meredith Poehler (born September 16, 1971) is an American actress, comedian, producer and writer. She was a cast member on the NBC television entertainment show Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2008. In 2004, she had a minor role in the film Mean Girls with Tina Fey, with whom she worked again in Baby Mama in 2008. She is currently the lead of NBC's comedy Parks and Recreation. She has been nominated twice for both the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on Saturday Night Live, and for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in Parks & Recreation. For the latter series she also received a 2012 Golden Globe Award nomination.

Amy Poehler is pretty awesome. She is consistently funny in everything I see her in. Blades of Glory was hit or miss but she was hilarious in it.

I officially hate my list now. I don't know what I was thinking. I love Amy Poehler so much. From Upright Citizens Brigade to SNL to Parks to movies, she's a comedy hero.

I've brought shame on myself and my entire family.

Catherine O'Hara

My thoughts:
Catherine O'Hara is someone I wish I had remembered to include on my list.  I loved SCTV back in the day and, of course, her work in the Christopher Guest films is stellar.

The Wiki:
Catherine Anne O'Hara (born March 4, 1954) is a Canadian-American actress, writer and comedienne. She is well known for her comedy work on SCTV, and her roles in the films After Hours, Beetlejuice, Home Alone, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and also in the mockumentary films written and directed by Christopher Guest including Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration.

Oh, another excuse to suggest checking out Comedy Bang Bang.  Here's a free episode with Amy Poehler as the special guest.

(also, can anyone figure out how to embed the show, if possible?)

Also, she can freestyle rap:
