I see Lucas has a sound, broad argument and that the retorts to it amount to "nuh-uh".

Now I know why I avoid any debate on the new Star Trek.

How about they didn't need anybody shouting from the rooftops? The entire scene could have been written differently. Also, having human characters is not a requirement for superhero movies. Finally, just because the character was in the comics, doesn't mean they have to be in the film (Gambit).

I feel like I am being ganged up on just because I don't worship The Avengers like it's the greatest movie in the world. When did this movie become The Dark Knight?

I'm not ganging up on you. I think you're cool. You are on the Rifftrax forum, which to me means you are already held in high regard by default. I thought The Avengers and The Dark Knight were a lot of fun, but I agree they were put on a pedestal. I liked the new Star Trek films as stand alone action movies. I was just lauding Lucas' debate skills and articulation. He addressed why he thought they were necessary, their importance in the Avengers canon, how the director made them relevant/utilized their strengths, and how their absence would negatively affect the pacing of the storytelling/complicate the narrative further(all with supporting details about foreshadowing, team dynamics, and Joss Whedon's ability to juggle multiple characters as a unique strong suit that is characteristic of his work). The strength of his argument, rather than the point he is defending, is what has me agreeing with him.

The new trailer looks pretty cool. Looks to me like a hell of a lot more is at stake. I just wish they got the guy from Days of future past to be Quicksilver in this movie. Did somebody say something about grey hulk being in this movie? I could go for that. Me like smart Hulk.

Days of Future Past took place in the 70s.  It wouldnt make sense for the same guy to play both roles.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Well, some Mutants can retain their looks despite decades passing by.

More to the point, Sony isn't going to let Marvel use the X-Men's Quicksilver. As I understand it, they won't even be calling him Quicksilver.

After Pak's comment, this seems like as good a place as any to post this that I found while wandering through Marvel Studios info (to find schedule of the release dates that I shared in one of my posts on the previous page):  :)

There's a fan theory out there that says Stan's playing The Watcher, which would be a neat twist, although I don't think I buy it.

I don't buy it either, but I do love the idea of him playing a bigger role in these movies like that.

That thing has to be out of date... how does (or would) Universal still have the rights to Namor?

Not sure how, but Kevin Feige apparently mentioned it back in 2013 while talking about plans reaching to 2021.
