Don't Be Afraid of the Dark 2010 remake

The beginning sequence is totally promising. Its creepy, gory, and intriguing. Everything that follows felt like one big joke that nobody was in on. I like horror movies like The Loved Ones and House of the Devil, where the protagonists have real world common sense but still get caught in shitty situations.. This movie couldn't get any further from common sense if there was a wormhole involved.

The common sense thing is what concerns me the most. I hate that too.

It is 'sort' of in the Drag me to Hell field, people not into horror probably won't get it

If I am missing something with this film, I would love to know what it is. It all seemed pretty retarded and felt like taking a cliche bat over the head. I only finished it out of morbid curiosity for how bad it could get.
Another part that really got me going was the fact that the little girl killed 2 of these little beasts, but never showed them to her parents. The stupid little things were dead and within feet of where she was, but she never is shown saying "See daddy?? See wtf is going on here??"
