The Rifftrax shorts thread.
« on: May 07, 2012, 10:53:01 AM »
Since they seem to have stopped making Child boards and they don't seem to be getting much traffic I decided to start a thread where we can talk about all shorts.

I just watched Nutrition.  Wow I always feel insulted whenever I see a report or a short like this that thinks I am too stupid to know that burgers are a sometimes food and if I eat them all the time I will get fat, guess what I know that!  I knew that when I was eating too many of them and got fat. Now I only eat them on special occasions like when I go out to a movie or something and I am losing weight.  Even when I was six I knew burgers were bad for me and it wasn't because of a short.  Sorry rant over.

Favorite line?

I wish you could still sort shorts by popularity (sales) on the main site.  I was gonna buy 3 today as warmups for the Bourne main feature, but I don't know which ones to pick.

I don't tend to worry about which short to buy because the shorts never let me down,I always enjoy them.  The only short I had trouble watching was Cops Who needs them and that was only because I couldn't stand watching the police try to frame that kid just because of something he said.  Those two should have been kicked off the force instead of being the heroes of the short.

I just watched We discover the dictionary and I have to ask if you know how to use the adult dictionary that has all the words in one place why would you bother with children's dictionary that splits up words between three or four books?

I always love the shorts, too...

Some of them, like Setting Up A Room (if you can call THAT a "short") just put me on the floor even after multiple viewings.

The only one that didn't make me laugh at all was Eggs To Market.  The short itself was more interesting than the riffing.  The team really punted on that one, sorry to say.  But that's one out of what, about 55? Not bad.

I guess I'll start getting them randomly, then.  I already have Grasses, Drug are Like That, and The Calendar: How To Use It.

I showed The Calendar to my niece this weekend and it really cracked her up.  It's funny, but when the Jackson Brown-a-be broke into song the last time, Kevin just said, "Oh, Dear God" and we started laughing.  Sometimes, all they have to do is say what we're thinking.

How to Draw a Rectangle
Shake Hands with Danger
The Stewardessess One from Plan 9
Courtesy Counts A Lot
 Setting Up a Room
Magical Disappearing Money
Seat Belts - A Life Saving Habit

Making Sense of Sentences

I watched Setting up a Room again.

You know it's no wonder our education system is in trouble when these are the type of people who are teaching the kids.

I'm so weird I got curious and fired up Google Earth and found a picture of the school where it was taken!

I tried to get a screenshot of it but my screengrab prog isn't working.  What you see, though, when you look at it from street level is that the building you can just barely see out the window in a few of the scenes, despite how dirty they are, is still there.

And P.S.19 in Queens NY is obviously still a kindergarten, after 42 years. (Assuming the black haired, cute woman was about 25, she'd be almost 70 now. But the building looks like it hasn't changed a bit since 1967.  That's just freaky to me.)
