Attempting my first fantasy football league (or two) this year.  I know NOTHING about football.  I see this ending poorly and me not winning any $.

So you will sign up for mine again this year too?    I promise not to be the ultimate champion three years in a row.....no, I will not do that.

Source: Dolphins cut Chad Johnson
Updated: August 12, 2012, 8:49 PM ET

Johnson, 34, has been battling for a spot on the team after a disappointing season with the New England Patriots in 2011.

Only five days earlier, first-year Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Johnson's roster spot could be in jeopardy if he didn't temper his freewheeling behavior. Johnson annoyed the coach by frequently using profanity during a session with reporters.

Johnson's defense attorney, Adam Swickle, says Johnson posted the bond Sunday morning. Swickle says a no-contact order has been issued that prevents Johnson from contacting Lozada.

Such orders are common in domestic violence cases.

Swickle declined to comment further.

Police say Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, was arrested Saturday. Davie police Capt. Dale Engle said the argument, which occurred in the front of the couple's home, started when Lozada confronted Johnson about a receipt she had found for a box of condoms.

According to an arrest affidavit, Johnson's wife said she was taking groceries into their home when she found the receipt in the car's trunk. When the two were seated back in the car, they began talking about the receipt and their marriage. That's when Johnson got upset and head-butted his wife, the report says.

Lozada ran to a neighbor's house and called police. A responding officer said he saw a 3-inch cut on Lozada's forehead, according to the affidavit.

Johnson did not have any visible marks or bruises. When questioned by police, he confirmed there was an argument over the receipt, but said his wife had head-butted him.

The officer, based on interviews and observations, charged Johnson with simple domestic battery.

Lozada was treated at a hospital for a cut to her forehead, Engle said.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, though he could also receive community service, probation or anger management classes.

Well, I just joined 2 yahoo leagues & one ESPN league.  Um. What should I do as far as a draft strategy (particularly for the ESPN league since that one is for $.)  I have absolutely no clue what I am doing.

Other than draft Ocho Cinco first.  ;)

The yahoo draft (my awesome work league of 16 teams that you have joined) actually ranks all the players voted on their sports team 1-1000, so you can pick from that.  Sporting News and others do that too.  In fact for the yahoo draft we are having on the 25th, you can see all the ranked players as you vote.

That part I've got no problems with.  I'm just unsure as to what to aim for on draft day (like in baseball I go for SP and middle infielders early)

I'd tell you what I go for at first, but as the commish and two year champ, well, I feel I cannot.

Heck, I even won the final game last year while passed out in a hospital, so NOTHING can stop me.

Conventional wisdom says you should always pick RB first, followed by QB. Then you just kinda fill things in with the best available picks.

If you're just starting out and not up to speed on the NFL, you should definitely use cheat sheets (player rankings) and check the latest injury report before you pull the trigger on a pick.

Thanks! My first draft is on Sunday.  I'll post what I end up with on here so you can mock me. :)

I know nothing about football other than the basics. But player names for the most part mean nothing to me.

I know the Pats defense isn't that great.  SF had good D last year (I think?)

Steer clear of the Pats D. The Pats are all about offense. Their defense is a sieve.

The Niners have arguably the best defense in the NFL. Having a great D/ST that consistently gets you a lot of points is really nice to have. Don't rule out the possibility of picking a good D/ST early on in the draft. It's a position people often overlook.
