Leonard Part 6
« on: May 01, 2012, 01:47:24 AM »
Please do a rifftrack of the Cosby "Cheesefest" known as Leonard Part 6 (1987). I think it's critical attention is long overdue ;)

Look at the "artistry" of this screencap. It's begging to be riffed...

Generally, Rifftrax doesn't riff comedies. Particularly ones like this that don't take themselves seriously.

Ouch! I watched it once as a kid and thought it was stupid. I can't imagine how much it must suck to watch it as an adult.

Similarly, I imagine GhostDad is probably pretty painful.

I know I could easily look this up, but I'm lazy.  What the hell is this movie anyway?  All I know about it is the title and the fact that everyone who ever saw it, including Bill Cosby himself, absolutely hated it.

It's a 1987 "comedy" about a super spy (Bill Cosby) who is brought out of retirement to save the world from a group of evil vegetarians who use trained frogs, fish and other animals to kill their victims.  And no, I didn't make that up.  The plot is literally that stupid.

Here's the review for Leonard part 6 from Siskel & Ebert.  They explain its absurdities far better than I can.

Oh, yes.  The days when Roger Ebert just talked about movies.  When Bill Cosby was the richest man in show business and Tom Seleck was a big-time A-list actor.

Think I'll stop before this thread cross-polinates with the nostalgia thread.

I just did it because I heard how legendarily awful Leonard Part 6 was.  I liked how overt and completely out of place the Coca-Cola product placement was.  Leonard had no reason at all to be making a sandwich and drinking a Coke in that scene.

It's too bad Ebert couldn't do a riff of North (1994).  He really hated the hell out of that movie.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/KAAEFRVQU14" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/KAAEFRVQU14</a>

And if not him, then Rifftrax.  Of course Rifftrax doesn't do comedies.  Then again, how anyone could consider North a comedy is beyond me?
