Funny things about "Reading From Now On"
« on: April 24, 2012, 07:44:04 AM »
The riffs were great as usual but this is one of those shorts which already contained its funniest moment:

Since when did second graders listen to Steppenwolf? I was one around the time this thing was made.  I knew hippie music existed and had an internal fascination with it which escaped and went full-on effulgent when I knew what it was all about, but when I was the age of the kid in the short talking about it, it was still Big Bird I was listening to more than the Byrds, or any of their contemporaries.

(I didn't hear "Magic Carpet Ride" until I was about 12 and I was 17 before I knew what the band name was a reference to.)

As to reading: kids in grade school seem to learn to enjoy reading a lot faster as soon as they read their first dirty graffito and then ask their mom, dad or teacher what it means!
