The Return of Oh So Many Classic Adventure Game Creators

(1/6) > >>

doggans:
Over the past few months, there has been a veritable DELUGE of classic adventure game creators announcing a big comeback! I figured this warranted one big thread! Let's discuss, shall we?

First off, from the LucasArts world, there's Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert! Sure, they haven't exactly been inactive in the game design world, but the fact that they and the Double Fine team raised OVER THREE MILLION DOLLARS on Kickstarter probably helped inspire the other game designers to try this out.

Then in the Sierra world, Jane Jensen announced she's starting a new studio! Jensen has many amazing credits, such as co-writing King's Quest VI, which is the GREATEST GAME EVER MADE. There's still time to donate to THIS Kickstarter!

ALSO in the Sierra world, Al Lowe announced he's coming out of retirement to update Leisure Suit Larry! Once again, there's still time to donate here!

And FINALLY in the Sierra world (but, surprisingly, NOT the Kickstarter world) (EDIT: Now it is!), Space Quest's very own Two Guys From Andromeda have patched up their differences and are making a brand-new "Spaceventure"!

SO, what do you guys think? Could adventure games finally make the serious comeback we were all hoping they'd make when Monkey Island returned a few years ago? Or will they burn out once we get past the initial surprise of hearing from these designers again? Only time will tell.

Sideswipe:
We can only hope.  I love those games!  Lucas Arts needs to get their asses in gear and get Full Throttle 2 out!

Gandalf Lundgren:

I have bought a few games from them myself. I just got "A New Beginning", have not had a chance to play it yet.

Pak-Man:
Schafer and Gilbert teaming up to make a new 3 million dollar adventure game is exciting, but the return of the 2 Guys from Andromeda is the big news for me. The Space Quest games were a huge part of my childhood, and I can't wait to see what they're cooking up. :^)

Pak-Man:
So if anyone wants to kick-start the Two Guys' Space-Venture, now's the chance.

Sooo tempted to throw $100 at them and get a Sierra-Sized Collectors' Box. :^)
