Also proving that deadlines are more important than quality, if you turn stuff in on time consistently people will start to give you more work than people who can do nice looking work but tend to fail when it comes to the deadlines.
The thing is, when Liefield was at his most popular - during the Image days - he was always late. Books could be delayed by weeks or months. That's where some of the worst stuff comes from. I don't know if more or less time affected the quality of his work at all.
Personality could be a factor, as well. Allegedly, Liefeld is a REALLY nice guy.As opposed to MacFarlane, who, while talented (as an ILLUSTRATOR; his writing is complete shit, from top to bottom), is a giant blue-veined dick.
