Brrrrr... A cold chill went up my spine at the prospect of yet another of my cousin's teams winning it all, while my beloved Sharks again break my heart.

I know, right? Although if you're a true Sharks fan you should be very, very, very used to it by now. Wilson has said that he has no intention of blowing up the team. Which means there's no Oil Change situation on the horizon. But i'd be bummed if they trade Marleau or Couture (i still feel bad for Seto.) And those two players run the spectrum between veteran and fresh-blood... so i have no idea what else they could do.

Losing Seto was a bad, bad loss. Our defense isn't what it needs to be (mostly because Boyle is only worth about half what he's paid, and much as I love our walking tank that is Murray he's simply not enough of a wall), although this year we were extra sluggish towards the end, and that carried over into the playoffs. I mean, we always hit a slump when the new year starts, it's just a matter of when it hits. Hit late this year.

Although, yeah, you're right: we're used to it by now. But hey, next year... that'll be the year. Just you all wait and see. Serious this time.

Oh yeah. And the shot thing really hurts us on the power play, which we waste time and time again by constantly passing around and only taking a shot every 40 seconds or so. And back in defense, we desperately need to work on our penalty kill. I think I lost track of the games we lost due to power play goals (I think for a few of them those were the only goals the other team got).

And I'm down in the South Bay. Been here since I was 5, although I admit I didn't start following the team (or really caring about hockey) until the mid-200s (the season following the lockout, I believe). Gotta fairly into it these past few years, though. And still love my boys in teal, neverending heartbreak and everything (we make due at the Shark Tank with just a bunch of Western Conference Champions banners hanging from the ceiling. And that one lonely President's Cup, but the less said about that years postseason the better).

Phoenix Coyotes Pretend Homeless Drifters At Greyhound Bus Station Are Fans Welcoming Team Home
PHOENIX—Upon returning from their elimination from the Western Conference Finals Tuesday, the Phoenix Coyotes convinced themselves that the homeless drifters occupying the Greyhound bus station were adoring fans waiting to welcome them back. I'm sort of in the middle on this one. On the on hand, my aforementioned Sharks-status makes this draw out a long Siiiiiggggghhhhhhhh, along with the never-ending envy of the feelings of joy my cousins are feeling. Because, come on... The Kings? The freaking LA Kings? Didn't see that one coming, let me tell you.

On the other, more sensible hand, this is a West Coast team completely demolishing one of the old guard from the East. It's always good when the more "elite" side of hockey is taken down a peg, and when it's done by someone over here in the Pacific, it's hard not to feel good about it.
