Loved The Truman Show, but it didn't make my final 25.  I haven't seen it since it was in theaters so it is overdue for a viewing.

The Truman Show's pretty great, Im.  I know you're adamant about the kinds of films you don't want to watch, but Truman Show is much better than its star or premise would suggest.

I am intrigued by this "do not watch" list.  Are they films you have seen before and disliked, or films you refuse to watch for specific reasons?  And if so, what reasons?

Myself, I will give any sort of movie a gander if it doesn't sound too stupid.

I love the Truman Show, watched it again recently, still holds up good.  It was also in my top 25.

I've found many people I know put it down because of Jim Carey, they don't like him.  I do, think he's a good actor.  Recently saw "I love you Phillip Morris".  One of the best romantic comedies in years.  Of course the awesome Ewan McGregor didn't hurt matters...

I've found many people I know put it down because of Jim Carey, they don't like him.  I do, think he's a good actor.  Recently saw "I love you Phillip Morris".  One of the best romantic comedies in years.  Of course the awesome Ewan McGregor didn't hurt matters...

ILYPM was good. I was personally hoping that it would focus more on the con-man aspects rather than the romance, so I was a bit disappointed. But it was good.

And, yeah, Jim Carey is good too, when he's under control. He's great in Eternal Sunshine.

The trouble with Jim Carey is that everyone seems to have confused how is career has gone with Mike Myers or Adam Sandler (I blame The Grinch, which is actually pretty enjoyable). Carey does go too crazy sometimes and has been in more than his fair share of lame projects, but he still strikes gold when he gets the right stuff. Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine are great dramatic examples, and ILYPM is a perfect recent example (I actually liked that they stuck more to the romance for this one, simply because that seemed a bit more interesting on a character level. And also because of how faux-dark the ending got).

I didn't think The Grinch was awful... it wasn't Cat in the Hat for goodness sake... but I saw it once and never felt compelled to revisit it.

Truman Show is another really good one... think I still have the VHS in a box somewhere.
