Alien 3 iriff now up
« on: April 07, 2012, 10:06:56 PM »
I have my Alien 3 iriff ready to be put up for sale, but when I attempt to upload it the site bounces me with the message: "There was a problem with the upload.  The server did not accept it."  I will try to post it again later.  In the meantime, please enjoy the trailer for the iriff.

I still can't upload the Alien 3 zip file onto Rifftrax.  I've tried multiple times to do so and continue to get the same "There was a problem with the upload.  The server did not accept it.  File rejected" message.  I've tried emailing rifftrax support, but I still haven't heard anything.  Does anybody have a solution?  If so, could they post it here or PM me?

Thanks.

Try uploading the mp3 by itself.  While a zip file should work, you don't require them anymore to upload your stuff.
One Man Band iRiffs:
American Werewolf in Paris     The Ice Pirates
Mortal Kombat                           Terminator: Salvation
Hackers                                     The Thing
Doom                                         Alien
Underworld 3 (w/ Moleman)   Legion; and more!

I tried uploading the single NTSC mp3 file, the single PAL version mp3 and the whole zip file multiple times and I still get the message every time.

The riff's finally up.  Don't ask me how, though.  I just tried it again with the separate files and this time it worked.  Thank goodness.

Good stuff on the trailer, with good variety. The "G.I. Jowl" one got the biggest laugh from me.

Thanks.  A number of the lines in the iriff took a while to come up with, but I took one look at Brian Glover in that scene and it just hit me.

Yup, sometimes those riffs that just pop into your head are the best ones, since you are not over-thinking them too much. It is funny how it works. For example, on the "As Boys Grow" short (the first iRiff we released), I did the majority of the writing for that one in about 2 hours, as I was on a roll and the short basically riffed itself. Other ones, you have to struggle with.

And I can see what you mean about everyone looking the same. Bald, and pushing mops. It looks like an underground Mr. Clean convention.

Right now Alien 3 is my best seller with twelve copies to date.  Ironically I thought Alien 3 would be my worst seller because I didn't think anyone would ever want to see that movie again.  I actually believed In Time would sell better because it was more recent, but that one's only managed four copies so far.  Ha ha.  Shows what I know.  Sometimes the riff that you think will do the best ends up doing the worst and vice versa.

Maybe Prometheus' release helped spur on a few more sales, though I don't think I'd want to riff that one.  Nor Alien Resurrection or those two AvP films.  Aliens could be possible, though not for a long time.  And I almost like that movie too much to riff it.

I know what you mean. "Office Courtesy: Meeting the Public" is our best seller. While it is a good iRiff, I was thinking more recent ones like "Why Study Home Economics" would do better since I feel they are better quality iRiffs and are even more ridiculous in content. (being a Centron short helps as well)

Still chuckling over the G.I. Jowl riff.  :P

Well, bought it and watched it tonight.

My gosh! Is this film BORING! I did not recall it being this slow. Look, I love Alien, and I really enjoyed Aliens and Prometheus. But there is a HUGE difference between building anticipation and just being dang slow, and this film is assuredly the latter. I saw this in high school, and I remember being really excited for it and enjoying it. My only conclusion is that being 17 must have made me massively, massively stupid.

The iRiff was pretty good! I almost feel like there could have been a bit more room for the film to breathe, because the comments came almost nonstop. Then again, this film took a lot of long, LONG breaths, so maybe I'm wrong.

Favorite line: "The script is just written in question marks at this point." HUGE laughs here when my best friend and I heard that one. Wow, was that chase scene incoherent!

Hope it sells well for ya!

Thanks for buying the riff and I'm glad you enjoyed it.  And I agree, the film is really boring.  There were a few points when I just wanted to flat out quit the riff because I was fed up with the movie.  Thankfully I managed to persevere.  Don't ask me how.

I really appreciate the input.  When riffing, I worry about leaving too much dead space in the riff--funny enough I was worried that I wasn't putting enough material in.  Guess that won't be a problem ;)  Since I'm currently riffing Paycheck, I'll see about cutting down a bit on the riffs.

If I might ask, did the riff sync up well for you?  Was there any problems with the sync lines not matching up well or the riffs being off?  I ask because my DVD player stopped a bit at 1:00:35 when Ripley and the convicts are talking after Andrews is killed.  That damn skip nearly drove me nuts trying to get it fixed.

Hope it sells well for ya!

Me too :)  Thanks again for watching and commenting on my riff.

Sometimes you just never know what tickles a person's fancy.

That's the truth.  Maybe I should stick with bad movie threequels like Robocop 3.

Still chuckling over the G.I. Jowl riff.  :P

Thanks.  I'm glad it's still making you laugh.
