This is hollywood we are talking about. Unless it is Will Smith,a movie about gangs,or a comedy with an all black cast they are never going to put a black man front and center on their artwork.

Actually, not true.  You can be front and center if you fight vampires:

Or are a supervillain:

Technically, vampires are a clan, not a gang, and when you're a supervillain, you have henchmen, not gang members.

one of my favorite cult movies, Critters. Here's the poster (actually a VHS cover, but it's almost exactly the same):

Then they unleashed this stunningly bad cover for the DVD:

It's like.... what the hell?! Who the hell approved this? The same Critter (from the latter two movies, no less) cloned over and over? What?! And yet, they used the poster image for the menu. Go figure.

Fun movie. And yeah, that is some bad art. Although the original makes the Crite look very diseased.

It is all about the floating heads! That is all Hollywood likes anymore with their poster "art".  Terrible, terrible stuff.

Murder by Death with art by the awesome Charles Aadams!

It looks like Peter Faulk is trying to figure out who did the bad cover art.  ;D

Great cast, but I hated the movie. Didn't find it very funny at all.

Booooooo!  I loved that movie.  Far superior to the very similar Clue, which I also loved.

There was also a crappy (as far as I can remember) TV movie ripoff from 1980 called Murder Can Hurt You that used the same gimmick but with TV detectives. Victor Buono as Ironside, Tony Danza as Baretta, Gavin MacLeod as Kojak, Jamie Farr and John Byner as Starsky and Hutch, etc, etc.  Wish I could find a copy of this to see if it is as bad as it sounds and as I remember it.

Oh I love Clue! It was funny. But I think Murder By Death didn't work for me because I don't care at all for mysteries, or mystery novels, so the characters meant nothing to me. Except how in bad taste everything with Sellers as the asian guy seemed. And that Peter Faulk was perfect as the fast talking detective.

Loved both Murder by Death and Clue. They should sell those as one of those double-feature DVD or Blu-Ray sets. I'd buy it in a second.

Also, BOOOOO on getting rid of that brilliant Charles Addams cover. Man was a genius.

It most likely was. It's been decades since I've seen it, but even as a youth, I remember watching the ending with Ironside on the rooftop crying "I can dance!" over and over while in his wheelchair and thinking "Wow. That's lame."

To be fair, the poster isn't really that great, either.
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.
Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

All the martial arts movies that Miramax/Disney released suffered from those crappy covers.
