So Playmobil: The Movie did so poorly that its physical release is DVD only.

It's so weird that things are still coming out on DVD.

It's so weird that things are still coming out on DVD.
It's taking a LONG time for stuff to become digital only and... I do think it's going to happen, but it's going to take time. I think people like myself still would rather have the DVD+Blu-ray+Digital because I think people tend to like tangible things better than digital goods. On the other hand, I did finally get to the point many years ago where I'm fine just getting my music digitally from Amazon, Google or Itunes.

I think My problem with digital content is that it is only as stable as the IP rights holders want it to be. I mean all my purchases on Google play might all of a sudden disappear tomorrow just because a rights holder says "Ah hah! now WE own the rights to _______ so therefore whoever bought it on your platform is now SOL!"

Now, I'm more okay with digital downloads of music, mostly because I can download it straight to my computer and it's there, potentially until the damn thing fails. Unfortunately, not all of us have the capacity to download every single digital download of everything from the MCU, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Lord of the rings, The simpsons, South Park, Burn Notice and Archer(just to name a few) to our HDD's mostly because we don't have trillion TB HDD's. Also, AFAIK the most major streaming platforms do not allow for the luxury of downloading all your shit to your laptop. Now, from what I've seen, I can download content from Amazon Prime onto my tablet or phone but it's still DRM protected, and I can't exactly hook my tablet up to my TV and watch it like that.

I know for a fact I can mirror my Laptop screen onto my TV because I've done it before, but I just don't care for watching my movies/TV in that manner. This is something that I think is always going to be a part of our comfort zone in first world countries: Using a remote to control stuff, and one day voice commands will just be the norm for every damn thing.

I'm thinking DVD's will probably take at least another 5 years or so to vanish and Blu-rays will be the dominant form of physical media for obtaining all your movies and TV shows... which sucks because some stuff is so obscure that I can't imagine it ever being released on Blu-ray. Also, I fear that while digital stuff is relatively speaking reasonably priced, physical media is going to become more expensive because there will be less demand but fewer copies made so that you don't see three hundred copies of The Man from UNCLE gracing the $5(or less) bin at Walmart.

I didn't realize this was so far into production. I just hope they do a lot of practical effects. And I really hope this isn't going to be a musical.

https://variety.com/2020/film/news/steven-spielberg-indiana-jones-5-james-mangold-harrison-ford-1203515698/

I actually have less of a problem with Spielberg not directing Indiana Jones 5 than I just think Harrison Ford is way too old to play the part and the series has become stale at this point.
In the 90s The Mummy movies became the new successor to Indiana Jones, and it's high time we got a new film series to do the same. It'd be more interesting to me for them to make some really kickass Allan Quatermain movies or something. Maybe even a return of the Western.
And in an age of so many heroes having superpowers, a down and dirty human hero would feel like a breath of fresh air.

I kinda miss the tradition of putting a Pixar short before a Pixar movie. I missed it in front of Coco and Toy Story 4. I know Disney+ is giving us all the Pixar Shortness we could want, but I liked that carefully-curated hand-selected feeling.
