Before he was Batman, Michael Keaton was known for silly comedies like Mr. Mom, or weird characters like Beetlejuice. So it's not without precedent for the casting to be unexpected. Besides, the much bigger concern is the writing and the tone they are going for.

Yeah, I have no problem with R-Pat just because he began his rise to fame in a bad film series.  And I am always interested when actors play against type.  Though, like Christian Bale before him, Pattison has already played a creepy rich guy in Cosmopolis (which I really need to get around to seeing, as I am a big Cronenberg fan).

Pattinson has also been vocal about how much he hates the Twilight movies. So the opportunity to make a name for himself with this kind of big role makes me think he's really going to put everything he's got into it.

Speaking of, isn't Kirsten Stewart going to be one of the new angels in Charlie's Angels? I really would like to know how that happened because imo she holds exactly zero appeal in every department.

I heard she was good in the Joan Jett biopic.

In hindsight I don't know why anybody would be apprehensive about Ledger being the Joker, I mean I can't recall him ever giving one bad performance.

I feel like it make one gunshy about being in a franchise in general, though, especially one that had given Affleck so much trouble.  I certainly understand the desire to return to big budget movies after starring in some relatively smaller films but this feels like it could end in frustration yet again.

Hmm...

Ugh, the live action/CGI hybrid movie makes me worried. Those movies are almost always terrible. Why not have it just be animated? Even CGI animated, that would be fine. The only positive I can think of this is that because Rescue Rangers is an action adventure show, it lends itself to more interesting story possibilities than other properties. But it will still likely suck.

Both R-Pat and K-Stew are very talented and accomplished actors.

K-Stew even won the Cesar award for acting which is only ever awarded to French actresses

See also Michael Keaton as Batman, Ben Affleck as Batman, John Faverau directing Iron-Man, Daniel Craig as Bond, etc, etc

The fact people are still salty about a series of YA movies from a decade ago is frankly kind of amazing to me.

I'm not surprises me, I'm just disappointed that people never seem to learn the lesson "hey, so-and-so who acted in a movie series you didn't like might actually be a good actor."  I knew a guy who kept dumping on Leonardo DiCaprio in 2007 because he was "the Titanic guy."  And he kept saying "DiCrapio" as if it didn't get even worse with each use.  Ugh.

Looking forward to the Sesame Street movie. But very concerned they are making a live action/CGI Tom and Jerry movie.  ::) Directed by Tim Story, no less. How does that idiot keep getting work?!
