My favourite thing ever was when one of my local(ish) cinemas started doing retro festivals. I would take a week off work and see as many films as I could. Unfortunately it lasted only four festivals in two years before they stopped. I would kill for a revival cinema in my city.

My city is too small for such a theatre (in fact, in the early 2000's, our $2 theatre closed).  But there is a Sears that is being hollowed out and there's rumblings that the theatre is going to try to expand in there.  There's been talk of Imax, but I'm hoping for more opportunities for special events like special screenings of older films or, at the very least, more limited release films.

Is it too obvious to say that this is inconceivable?

We had an IMAX here that lasted about 2 years before closing. They tried to run it as an educational/budget theater and all they ever showed were old scratched up prints of educational films of the type you see at IMAX theaters attached to museums in larger cities.
We used have 3 theaters in town (other than the IMAX) owned by 2 different chains and 1 independent budget theater operator.
The budget theater closed and 1 chain bought out the other, so we now have 2 theaters owned by the same chain. Fortunately the chain shows Rifftax/Fathom events (the chain that formerly owned the theater on our side of town didn't) and in the last couple of years they have upgraded to nice recliner seating in all of the theaters.

Upgrade is coming out this Tuesday. I heard the Cinema Snob talking about it so I'm really looking forward to getting it. Oh yeah and Tag is also coming out Tuesday. Seeing as how I really missed Jeremy Renner in Avengers Infinity War, I've just got to have this movie.

I've heard good things about the newer CGI shorts.

At least the article writer gets it. He called it Wile E Coyote cartoons. BECAUSE THEY'RE ABOUT HIM! It always annoys me when people call them Road Runner cartoons. For fuck sake, he's just a McGuffin.
In these cartoons it's not really Wile E Coyote vs the Road Runner, it's Wile E Coyote vs The Laws of Physics. And in them, The Laws of Physics is a cheating bastard!

I just had a thought. Given Warner Brothers tendency to go needlessly grim and gritty with the DC movies, it would be funny if they made these Wile E Coyote cartoons violent as hell, rated R, and super gory. Go super realistic in the CGI and every time he get hurt it's disturbing. Yeah, he recovers the next scene. But when he does get crushed you see blood, entrails, everything.
