An ad heard while listening to the Avs' preshow "Don't look now, but your Rockies are still in playoff contention."

Well, I sure the hell hope so.

Wow, the rookie Velasquez throws a 16 strikeout complete game shutout in his first game in front of the home crowd, sure it was against the Padres, but it was still a heck of a performance.

Weird. Hanley hasn't been a complete train wreck at first base.

Then there's Sandoval. And his exploding belt.

Huh.

The Rockies scored 13 runs in an inning.

Good job.

So, Pitcher Chris Sale of the White Sox got scratched from the game today at the last minute. Why? Well apparently Sale was so insistent that he not wear the scheduled Sox throwback jerseys that he grabbed a knife (or a pair of scissors. There are reports of both) and cut up all the mentioned jerseys. He claimed that "they were uncomfortable" and was outraged that "Sox management was more concerned about promotions than winning."

Yeah, methinks that Mr. Sale is just about to be traded for practically nothing, just to get the little psycho out of there.

So that's what it was, listening to the Phillies game today the guys kept talking about it trying to guess what a "non physical incident" could be.

Two walks and then a triple play, how's that for a shutdown inning after taking a 1 run lead....

Haven't kept up as much as I would like, but two nights ago Michael Fulmer pitched his first complete game of his career, and it was a 3-hit shutout.  Not bad for a rookie year.  He's definitely somebody we've needed ever since Anibal Sanchez crapped the bed.  Very sad about Sanchez...to go from a top-class starting pitcher to a guy who can barely keep himself in line in the bullpen in a single year is a rough time.

Phillies gave Ryan Howard a nice send off today, and pretty good timing that on my way home from NJ I was on I-95 driving by the stadium when he was up for his last at bat.

So that's it, no more of the 08 world series team left on the Phillies roster.

Joe Buck yammering on and on is ruining the world series for me.   :(

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

See, because Cleveland is sad. . .

Which as a Tigers fan makes me happy. And as a baseball fan I'm just crazy happy for the Cubs in general! But I get to add some schadenfreude! That'll learn 'em to have a better season than my team did.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Tigers fan, eh?  I was hoping they'd send it to a Tigers-Cubs finale, but then, I wouldn't be rooting for the Cubs.

I have family in Arizona, and I'd love to see a Tigers-Diamondbacks World Series, but based on the last few years, it may be a long wait before that happens...;)
