Tyler Cloyd didn't look that great in his emergency call up last week against the Mets, but he's striking out the Reds like crazy today...

Update: so, good day for the new guys:

Cloyd gets his first big league win.
De Fratus gets his first hold.
Aumont gets his first save.

Hey K1, what's the scoop on those Bobby V interviews?  Looks like he's trying to get fired.  Of course nutjobs always look that way...

Phillies have been playing well, but way too many teams ahead of us for the 2nd wildcard slot, we can probably jump over the Brewers and Diamondbacks but chances of the Pirates, Cardinals, and Dodgers all tanking is a long shot.

At least there's hope for next year.  Third base will be an issue, Frandsen has been doing a great job there but no one in the organization is talking about keeping him for next year.

I have no idea. I think that he thinks he is being funny and sarcastic but he can't even do that right.  He is seriously coming unhinged.

I'm waiting for Aceves to actually attempt to hurt Bobby V. I feel like that's a possibility. Aceves is a certifiable crazy person. He got into it with Pedroia during a game not long ago.

Well, it worked for Bobby Knight!  Oh, wait.....

Well, if it happens on the field that would be something for the fans to cheer for...  :P

That would be better that the sad grabbing on the head of OLD Don Zimmer and tossing him that the Pedro pitcher did.

All of a sudden the Phillies only have 3 teams to climb over to get the 2nd wildcard slot.

Still a really hard climb but not as impossible as it seemed a few days ago...

Wow, if the Cardinals, Dodgers, and Pirates all continue to play the way they are now, and the Phillies continue to play the way they are now, we get the 2nd wildcard spot.  Basically, we need to play above .500 and the Cardinals need to play below .500, the other 2 I'm pretty sure we will move past soon (they all seem to be in the middle of pretty bad slumps at the moment).

If the Red Sox don't attempt to re-sign Cody Ross, they have made a huge mistake.

When your team is this bad & he still wants to bash the ump over the head with his bat over a bad strike call... THAT is the attitude you want someone to have on your team.  Not guys like Beckett who don't give an eff and go golfing while they're missing a start because of an injury.

(Best picture I could find. Doesn't do it any justice...)

Well, the flames of wildcard hope that were being fanned last week were just about blown out this weekend.  I know the atmosphere in Houstan can put a team to sleep but come on, with the playoffs just within reach they lose 3 out of 4 to the Astros?

I'm amazed that Chris Carpenter (who has missed all season after shoulder surgery) is actually going to join the Cardinals and start a game this week.

Amazing.

Longest silent treatment I've ever seen after Ruff got his first big league hit/homerun last night.  They waited until the end of the inning, 3 more batters, then mobbed him.

They should use him to replace Brown in the outfield, send Brown back down the minors, can't count how many times he has messed up in the outfield this year, gliding to balls and not getting there in time to make a clean catch, bad routes, bad dives, throwing errors..

Still no one taking about keeping Frandsen at 3rd for next year.  He has been the only one all year that has come close to being as good as Polanco.   Stupid idea that every one of the infielders should be a big home run hitter, rargggg..

 :'(

Phillies are officially done.  Pretty amazing run the last bunch of years.  It was 05 or 06 the last time they had games left to play where they had no chance of the post season.

Hope for fewer injuries next year and they should have a better shot.

Maybe Bobby V can move and be your next store neighbors?
