Kendrick throws his first complete game shutout against the Cards?

This game can be so strange.  Kendrick and Blanton now have complete game shutouts this season, our old ace Hamels is our new ace, Lee doesn't have a win yet, Halladay is 4 and 4.

Halladay is gone for probably 8 weeks.  Blanton has been horrible his last 3 starts.  And they are back to stranding guys on 3rd, swinging at a pitch about 6 feet off the ground, come on Victorino take your ADD meds.

Just when I thought the Phillies might have turned the corner and might start catching up.  :grr:

So many teams are MASH units right now; big names going down left and right. This season will be known as "The Year of the Injury."

Somehow, the Dodgers are weathering the storm. What an odd season so far.

And now Contreras goes down mid batter, damn, he was pitching really well lately.  Charlie was forced to use Papelbon for a 5 out save.

It figures.  I put $40 on the O's to win it all while I was in Vegas last week and then they lose 6 in a row.  At least they are still only a game behind the Rays.

Marty,

I am a Phillies Phan as well, and have seen them worse...we just need to realize anything with their injuries will struggle

I picked them 3rd with Braves first and Nationals 2nd

Wish they would recall Brown and May though. If the season is lost, why not take some chances?

I moved to this area in the mid 80s, the 93 team made me a Phillies phan, so I've seen them much worse as well.  Those late 90s teams were, um, forgettable to say the least.

Lee still no wins, gets a loss tonight even though he had 12 strikeouts.  That one inning tonight was brutal, they tag out 2 guys at third, looks like they were out of trouble, but then Lee couldn't get the next few guys and they score 2 runs.

Edit: June 10th: Wow, Lee still doesn't have a win, amazing.  These last 2 losses to the Os were killers, hate to say it this early but the post season might already be out of reach.

The 1993 season, I was in Boot Camp and had to polish 22 pair of boots to get to watch Joe Carter tee off and end my hope
, I was later sent to Somalia or as everyone knows it "Black Hawk Down"

Then in 2008 my fiancee passes away from cancer at 35, so I really could care less about baseball then

I really worry about their next world series appearance, truly

Chooch left the game holding his side when he was about to bat.

Edit: Just announced, left oblique strain.

Edit2: next day; Chooch says it doesn't feel that bad, maybe he will only miss a few games.

Pappelbon gets his first blown save, but they were at home and big gentleman Jim gets his first pinch hit this year, a walk off homer (pinch hitting for Pappelbon).

Chase Utley!  First game back, first at bat he hits one out.

Chooch comes up next an also hits one out.  He's now the MLB batting leader.
