#46cIce on Mars - Star Trek: Voyager "Pilot"(Total Points: 22 Number of Lists: 2 Highest Ranking: #14 David)

You like Star Trek? Yeah! You like getting lost? Sure, who doesn't! You like woman captains so manly you feel kinda uncomfotable checking out her boobs, like she might have a penis tucked way back...okay, best not to think about it. You like Star Trek alien crew members? Sure, now we're talking! How about an alien cook so annoying you wonder "Gee, I miss Welsey Crusher."
This movie is most known for: Inspiring the creepiest moment in MST3K history, when Mike dresses up as Captain Janeway. *shudder*
7 of 9! Hey, she can eight me any time!
Noted riffs:
I don't know any. Please post some and I will add them here.
About the riff: I will let Michael T. Bradley fill in the details in his own (non legally binding to me) words.
This was our first outing and, like most of our early stuff, written by me. Riffed by myself and Jason Freston. I'd been working with Jason on a podcast at the time and asked if he'd be interested in doing this. Jason's a bigger Trek fan than me & therefore more personally hurt by Voyager, so he said sure. We ended up recording the first half of this about 9 times, I think. I kept being unhappy with the sound quality & trying different things. Plus about three or four run-throughs and you're talking a LOT of man hours put into this. There's a point almost at the halfway mark where you can see that we got a new mic. At the time I didn't know what I was doing when I was editing, so I think the new mic ended up sounding WORSE than the first half at some points, BUT I was trying my damndest. I'm still really proud that this holds up decently well. It's a little too full, I think, but overall I think it showcases our irreverence.
As a side note, the original intention was to just keep doing Voyager and only Voyager, but "Time and Again" nearly killed me, and when I tried to write the next ep, I just kept rewatching the teaser, and after like five passes my only line was "your hair is stupid" "/cries/" This is when I thought of inviting other groups in to do some episodes, and that worked out amazingly well for a variety of reasons. I think our strongest ep is "Learning Curve," and the strongest guest ep is QuipTracks' "Eye of the Needle." I think it's "Ex Post Facto" where our sexual amorality really starts to shine through. I remember at the time I was like, NO! WE HAVE TO KEEP THE RATING APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AS THE SOURCE MATERIAL! So I was going for TV-PG or so, and I had some line about, like, 'then he beat my face until it was bloody & forced me to orally pleasure him,' and I thought, 'well, since I didn't say blowjob, this is TV-PG.'
