Last year's #1: Super Mario Brothers - (1993)

Synopsis:
"It's the 1980's and it's a different world. Superheroes have been outlawed, the only ones still in operation under direct control of the United States government. Suddenly, those heroes both still in action and retired find themselves targets by an unseen enemy, who wants to kill them one by one. A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, the film is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” – which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity…but who is watching the Watchmen?"

Wow. Very few of mine on there, even though I'd suggested a fair number of them in other threads & "what got next" polls.

Anywho, here's my list, which I'll name Poles Apart. Bold= made the LOC. Italics= "why didn't more people vote for this?!" (I'll be sparing, I'll only italicize what I'd like discussion on.)

1. The Haunting (1999, Liam Neeson)
2. Alone In The Dark (2005, Uwe Boll's)
3. 8MM
4. Atlas Shrugged
5. End of Days
6. Collateral Damage
7. Def-Con 4
8. Capricorn One
9. The Exorcist
10. Highlander 2
11. 8 Heads In A Duffel Bag
12. Supernova (2000)
13. Alien Vs Predator
14. The Devil's Advocate
15. Event Horizon
16. Galaxy of Terror
17. Pet Sematary
18. Conan the Barbarian (2011 remake)
19. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
20. Cannonball Run 2
21. Boondock Saints
22. Super Mario Bros
23. Princess Bride
24. Sayonara Jupiter
25. Dungeons & Dragons (2000)
---------------

Okay, so I only italicized Atlas Shrugged. From the clips I saw I The Colbert Report, this movie looked about as entertaining as (but less than) a rightwing Birdemic (minus the birds & environment, mainly focusing on much more lavish boardrooms & offices [funded by the trickle-down from a few untaxed Washington Republicans pretending to be Tea Partiers.]). And even if MKB are conservative, I highly doubt they'd reject AS on this basis; most conservatives think the movie's an artless snoozefest; or "shit" as more commonly described. ("Where's Dennis Miller & Chuck Norris when you need them?")
