Basically it's like Avengers: Lion King.   As far as I know Lion King 2 is not ignored and the original characters will be present.

Yeah, I've seen others make similar remarks.  While it's nice that they're bringing in James Earl Jones (at least for the lead-in TV movie), the one casting choice that puzzles me is Rob Lowe as Simba.

The series doesn't actually air until this month.  The pilot movie aired in November.
