my family is full of filthy libs. Here is my typical family gathering.....

MY GRANDMA: "Michael, could you put some of those delicious looking mashed potatoes on my plate?"

ME: "NO! Get up and get them yourself Gram! That is the only way you will learn self reliance! It's bad enough the country is going broke sending you free money every month to buy your amazing turkey that really turned out great this year by the way!!!   You see....GET someone some mashed potatoes, they eat for A DAY......Make someone grab their walker and get their OWN mashed potatoes, they eat for the rest of their lives.

Personally I think we should just delete both the religion and the politics threads. They are the major contributors to the ill will on this board because too many people get into dick-measuring contests or get on their high horses and look down on everyone else. It's no wonder the forum has gone into decline and no wonder that there are like three chicks on this entire board.

Just fucking leave the threads locked and stop talking about religion and politics. It seems clear that you all are incapable of conducting yourselves maturely in those threads so just drop it.

I concur.  Nobody seems to enjoy it, yet they lack the self control to stay out.  Oh and that includes me, though I've been gaining in the self control department.

Judge Strikes Key Provisions of South Carolina Immigration Law

A federal judge on Thursday blocked three key provisions of South Carolina's controversial law cracking down on illegal immigration.

U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel granted the federal government's request for an injunction against the law that's set to take effect Jan. 1.

The ruling applies to portions that require law officers to check the status of anyone they stop for something else and suspect is in the country illegally. Gergel also halted the implementation of sections pertaining to the transportation of illegal immigrants and immigrant registration cards.

Gergel has denied the state's request that he suspend all court hearings on the case until the U.S.Supreme Court rules on a challenge to Arizona's similar law. South Carolina prosecutors have said the nation's high court will likely rule in six months or less.

A spokesman for Republican Gov. Nikki Haley responded to the ruling by saying the case will be decided by the Supreme Court.

"If the feds were doing their job, we wouldn't have had to address illegal immigration reform at the state level. But, until they do, we're going to keep fighting in South Carolina to be able to enforce our laws," said spokesman Rob Godfrey. "Governor Haley is hopeful that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon do what Congress and the executive branch have failed to do, which is allow the states to pick up the slack where Washington has failed."

Donald Trump has changed the party affiliation on his New York State voter registration to "unaffiliated," leaving the door open for a 2012 White House run.

"Mr. Trump has done that in order to preserve his right to run as an independent after the finale of his television show "The Apprentice" at the end of May," said Michael Cohen, a Special Counsel to Mr. Trump. "Something's he's stated over the past six months he might elect to do if, in fact, he's not satisfied with who the Republican candidate is and does not believe that that candidate can defeat Obama in 2012."

Most recently Trump was in the headlines for pulling out of his role as moderator of a GOP presidential debate in Iowa which only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum had committed to.
