Here is my list. And yes, to reiterate, I was the person who didn't vote for Santa. I already had three variations of Santa on my list, and I just felt generic Santa was too, well, to be honest, boring. Besides, I never believed in Santa, so I missed out on that whole childhood experience.

1 Frank Cross (Scrooged, my favorite Christmas movie)
2 Ralphie (A Christmas Story, second favorite)
3 Kris Kringle (Miracle on 34th Street)
4 Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

5 Albert (Twas the Night Before Christmas) - This was always a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I'm a litttle disappointed this didn't make it
6 The Hogfather (various Discworld books, and the made for TV movie, which was surprisingly good)
7 Robot Santa (Futurama)
8 Hermy (The elf who wanted to be a dentist in that Rankin/Bass Rudolf special)

9 Hardrock, Coco and Joe (the song and short of the same name)
10 Tingles the Christmas Tension (Parody of Hardrock, Coco and Joe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UIwFCzH3BI)
11 Father Time (although there are many representations, I'm was thinking of the one that is traditionally replaced by the New Year's Baby)
12 Patrick Swayze (Let's have a Patrick Swayze Christmas)
13 The Killer Santa Suit (Invader Zim, The Most Horrible X-Mas Ever)
14 Clark Griswold (Christmas Vacation)
15 Kevin McCallister (Home Alone)
16 Gizmo (Gremlins)
17 The Heat Miser (The Year without a Santa Claus)

18 Brian (Life of Brian) - I know this is a stretch, but he was born on the first Christmas after all. Your call.
19 The Grinch
20 Suzy Snowflake
21 Rudolf the Red Nosed Reigndeer
22 Scott Calvin (The Santa Clause)
23 Kwanzaa-Bot (Futurama)
24 Hanukkah Zombie (Futurama)

25 Turbo Man (Jingle All the Way)

I love the Grinch.  By far Dr. Suess' Best work and quite possibly Chuck Jones' (after Duck Amuck).  Rewatched Alistair Sim Scrooge last night.  I think the reason Scrooge and Grinch make such great characters is that they are truly nasty in the beginning and yet somehow the change of heart in both their stories seem plausible since their nastiness doesn't stem from simply being born evil, but simply being blind to a better way of living.  I love almost any incarnation of A Christmas Carol.  Almost.

Isn't there anyone who knows all about

#5 - Jack Skellington
?

I won't rehash the argument about him being Christmas or Halloween (he's not Christmas), but what the hell is on jack's arm? Was he fisting the blob?

It's from some very forgettable video game incarnation of some such thing.

And thanks to Tripe for hosting an awesome list.

Here is my list. I had a pretty good showing this time.
I've never seen Miracel on 34th St. or It's a Wonderful Life, so if I had, I probably would have put a character or two from that replacing some of the ones at the bottom.
Also, I was unaware of a lot of the non-typical and no-Christian characters that made it on the Top 50, so I am glad it had a more diverse variety than I had.

Loc Top Winter Holiday Characters

1. Jesus
2. Santa Claus
3. Santa Christ (Nostalgia Critic videos & Kickassia)
4. The Grinch
5. Snow Miser
6. Jack Skelington
7. Ebenezer Scrooge
8. Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come
9. Ghost of Christmas Present
10.Robot Santa (Futurama)
11.John McClane
12.Frank Cross (Scrooged)
13.Gremlins
Gizmo made the list and not the Gremlins themselves?! Giz is just a plush toy, the Gremlins are badass!
And I should have included on this list Billy's Mom. Now she was awesome!
14.Frosty the Snowman
15.Abominable Snowman
16.The Old Man (A Christmas Story)
17.Pietari (Rare Exports)
A really good character and the acting is great. I have little doubt this movie will become a staple of holiday viewing for the people who see it.
Also, he acts like a kid most of the film, but at the end his balls drop and he becomes a fucking BADASS!
18.Ralphie Parker (A Christmas Story)
19.Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
20.Clark Griswald (Christmas Vacation)
21.Jack Frost
22.Harry (Home Alone)
23.Marv (Home Alone)
24.Cousin Eddie (Christmas Vacation)
25.Mr. Hanke the Christmas Poo

And if I had known about this when I made my list, I would have put him on it. CLAUSFERATU:

Great job with the list, Tripe. The whole Krampus thing (another character I was unaware of) was awesome.

5 Albert (Twas the Night Before Christmas) - This was always a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I'm a litttle disappointed this didn't make it

If I had remembered, he would have. I love that special too. "Even a Miracle Needs a Hand" is probably the best Christmas song they don't play on the radio. :^)

So here's my list

1   Santa
2   Dionysus
3   Hanuman
4   The Magi
5   St. Lucy

6   Odin
7   Scrooge
8   Zwarte Piet (Black Peter)
9   Krampus
10   Caganar

11   Befana
12   Judas Maccabees
13   Pantomime Horse
14   The Ghost of Christmas Present
15   The Woman in Black
16   The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come
17   The Hogfather

18   Ganesh
19   Mari Lwyd
20   Drosselmeier
21   Pantomime Dame
22   The Grinch
23   The Heat Miser

24   Knecht Ruprecht
25   Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

So thoughts: Well I wish I'd done more with Linus, but most of my thoughts about where the kids in Peanuts end up aren't festive so maybe something for a different list.

I'm really pleased that people enjoyed the musings of Krampus, aside from the couple that featured blonde Zooey Deschanel and a girl that works at the Whole Foods I shop at, my dreams last night mostly featured tentative plans for a rod and glove puppet of the lovable spirit of punishment (I know how John Galsworthy felt in creating Soames Forsyte; he starts of making him a monster, by the end he's adorable :D)

Cool, I wasn't the only person with the Woman in Black.

I hope the upcoming movie is good.

I still don't understand why they have an American little girl reading the copy in that trailer.Hopefully that's merely a trailer thing.

I love The Women In Black, it's a phenomenal ghost story for Christmas, I've never seen, or heard, a bad version of it. My favourite so far is the radio version though. :)
