Reauthoring help
« on: December 01, 2011, 11:36:44 PM »
Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to reauthor this movie.  Damn copyright filters....

It might be time to bit the bullet and splurge on a copy of AnyDVD.

I used the most recent update to DVDFab 8.

I ended up ripping Title 68 with Handbrake and then reauthorizing with GarageBand on OSX.  Not my preferred way to do things but...

This is definitely the easiest method.  It's how I reauthored Thor.

Which is cheaper and easier to use?  DVDFab or AnyDVD?

If you download DVDFab you get 1 month free.  Just uninstall and reinstall the latest version after a month, and it's always free.

There's a catch, though.  DVDFab essentially creates an image of the movie (always use the "Main Movie" option) on your hard drive.  You then have to mount that image to a virtual drive and go through the reauthoring process with whatever software you normally use.  Personally, I use DVD Decrypter.

I've never used AnyDVD.  Before I started reauthoring, I used DVDFab and DVDShrink for making copies of my personal DVD's, so I was already acquainted with them.

Hey Dan-Echo,
Thanks for the hint about using the Main-Movie option. I was having nothing but problems with the Transformers 3 disc. I used a hint from the DVDFab board to Disable Pathplayer to stop the endless scanning of the disc. Actually bought the latest copy of DVDFab but it still wouldn't work until I tried it your way.

I used to use DVDFab for tough reauthors, but I've been finding it's getting less and less reliable.  Though I don't use it, I have heard nothing but good things about AnyDVD.

I've never once had a problem with DVDFab.  Been using it for almost two years now.  Don't really understand where the difficulty is comming from for some people.  Any time I have a problem with a rip, I go to the site and download a not always alerted to update.  I then am able to rip.  Moral to the story, always check for updates.

I couldn't get AnyDVD to work. DVDFab seems to be working, though.

What ANYDVD does is strip the copy protections so that you can use another program to rip. I think it might have some basic ripping but not like DVD DECRYPTER or DVD SHRINK. ANYDVD is also very fast with work arounds for new disc schemes.

Yes, I know. But it didn't work for me. It has in the past, but didn't this time. It claimed that the copy protections were overcome, but DVD Decrypter would still give me errors and both DVDShrink and AnyDVD "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk" option would give me garbage.

After using DVD Fab 8.1.38 to copy an image from a Blockbuster Express copy, and the steps in the reauthoring guide, it comes out with out of sync audio and a letterboxed picture in 4:3 from video from rejig, video from DVD Decrypter crashes in ifoedit . Are you using a rental copy or the full retail version?
