So uh  Blunt weapons they any good?

This is the first big RPG game I've ever played, and there's so damn much to it that I always have questions. I only recently found out that I can have a one handed weapon, shield, AND magic at the same time. But is there a difference in what kind of one-handed weapon I use? As in, does a sword have any better advantage than a mace? Is there any point to holding onto a dagger?

a mace is slower than an ax, and an ax is slower than a sword. and you can get critical hits with a sword that you cant get with a mace but a mace will sometimes ignore armor. both of these aspects can be enhanced by leveling up and picking perks. and daggers are good for quick stab-in-the-back assassin kills because it's better suited and is less visible. and i prefer cutting weapons myself, alternating between sword and ax, blunts are just too slow for me.

I made a lady lizard person and named her Clever Girl.

That is the extent of my experience with Skyrim.

The mace is pretty decent early on if you don't have much one-handed skill and want to go that way.  I got a sword in Whiterun from the Sky Forge that lasted me a long time, so that's a great early starting weapon.

I don't really use magic.  Though I've heard some of the later level spells are amazing.

All these games look great and a lot of fun......makes me wish I actually enjoyed playing them.

Digging the game so far, but one thing is really starting to bug me the more I do.

There are no consequences for your actions in the quests.  They've created this grand world, but everything is disconnected.

Side with the Stomcloaks?  Feel free to visit Solitude at any time and become buddies with the Jarl and do quests for her.

Become an Honorable companion?  Hey, why don't you join the thieves guild too!

The closest thing to consequences in the game is getting a bounty on your head if you start stealing and killing everyone, and not being welcome in enemy camps when you pick a side for the civil war (but you can visit the cities no problem).

yea? see what starts happening when you do more of those quests. i was banned from maraketh for awhile after helping out the forsworn. plus there was supposed to be a point where the thalmor ask you to join them, but they didn't in my case because i've been killing them on site and freeing their prisoners. the people of the thieves town hate me since i killed the hag in the orphanage and i noticed prices have gone up. everything you do has consequences, they may not just happen right away.

Anyone become a werewolf yet?  I did and it's awesome!  Went on a massive rampage today in wolf form.  Killed a bunch of bandits, imperial soldiers, nobles and 2 giants.  I love being able to just completely dominate giants as a wolf by knocking them down with the strong attack and just mauling the shit out of them while they try to get up.  Makes up for all the times I've had to run in terror from them and their mammoths in human form (giant killing and mammoth hunting are some of my favorite Skyrim hobbies  ).

I solved that problem by murdering every single one of them.   
 
Just smithed up to 100, although the Dragon Armour looks pretty terrible. Working on my enchanting now, so I can get the two enchantments for one perk.  Plus I have potions that will boost both smithing and enchanting skills.  Gonna be a monster!

and the king made a point of telling you that when you freed him. he's an asshole. and yea became a werewolf as well.

Just don't let the giants catch you sleeping nose to anus, they'll know you're a werewolf for sure!
