rivendell by rush.

Why would anybody ridicule somebody for liking Rush, especially from that era? Rush was was consistently putting out kick-ass, classic music for well over a decade.

Yeah, who gives a shit about genre? One of the reasons bands like Rush and Tull were so awesome was because they were so good at mixing genres.

no i like tull too i've got passion play on vinyl. its just  the people i went to school with at the time didn't give a shit about trad. classic rock and thought it was stupid. believe me i was raised on nothing but rock from the 60's-80's. hell i only started listening to "new" rock last year and even then it's mostly metal. my dad gave me his record collection which i still regularly listen too and try to build whenever i find a running record store. it's mostly zepplin and floyd with acdc, zz top, skynard, ozzy, alice cooper, and a lot others mixed in. if you guys like Tull check out a band called turisas. in fact here's a cover of tull's broadsword they did.

edit: i like a few songs from songs from the wood as well, the two you mentioned, velvet green, and pibroach. the guitar intro to pibroach is fucken epic.
edit part deux: ever realize a part of hunting girl is about S&M? ( with the subtext being a mockery of british aristocracy.)

Not sure that's subtext really, which would suggest something not apparent. Oh yes I know exactly what it's about, I love a girl in riding gear
(and attended Public School) ;)

Actually depending what it is that appeals to people about Tull, they might want to check out the stuff Ritchie Blackmore and his missus do these days.

aaaaaahh, that just ain't right.

Ian Anderson rocks, anybody that can find a way to prominently feature a flute in a rock song is awesome.
besides.... One of my favorite covers is this.

I've admitted here before to liking that Boom-Boom-Pow.

I will now admit that I think Dev has a purdy voice, and in rocking out to her, I have tangentally, unintentionally, and much against my will, rocked out to Kanye. I really must stop listening to the local Pop station. :^)
