Synopsis: (Written by Barnes)
This is an absolutely soul-crushing movie, and this a powerfully emotional scene. Anna's death encompasses everything it led up to. I've never seen anything that is at once so horrible and so beautiful. The level of violence, the bleakness, the beauty of it. It is the ultimate act of defiance. This movie impacted me like a ton of bricks. I love how it's basically two movies, the first being an intense, supernatural, instant gratification revenge horror movie and the second being this incredibly moving psychological and spiritual revenge movie. It really is a stunning film.
And a Hollywood remake is a stupid idea. You're not going to make this movie any better, so don't even try. Leave this movie alone. I like Kristen Stewart (outside of her slack-jawed performances in the Twilight trash) but there's no way a remake will match the sheer intensity and impact of the original. The French treat their horror movies like art, an art at which they're extremely adept. Just walk away, Hollywood. Just walk away.
Unfortunately, this is the only video I could find. It's a shame because it doesn't include the amazing visual imagery inside Anna's mind. This is the imagery I think of when I think of the moment of death. If you're at all a fan of revenge movies, you really must watch this.
