These seem to be the upcoming trends in YA speculative fiction. Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising series. The debut novel "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" (something of a mixed bag, with a confusing first persion omniscient IMO, but still an engaging and relevant work).

Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think of it? Anyone got some good recs for necromantic and felinethropic ficiton? Critiques? Sociological commentaries?

I assume the title is a play on the Elton John song?  Because I approve if only for that.
