I noticed something this morning [well... it's morning to me, since I just woke up, despite the time] that I didn't notice last night when I posted it, that takes a lot of the joy out of the gif for me: [spoilered in case people don't potentially want enjoyment diminished for themselves]

there's a little bit of a hand to the left in the gif with two fingers extended that go up and down just prior to the red panda going up and down.  In other words, it isn't doing the rings stuff for the fun of it like it appeared to me last night, it was trained to do it.   Animals being taught to do unusual things simply to amuse their keepers is a kind of abuse.  If it had jumped up and done that on its own, it would be different.

Have you ever seen the Red Pandas at the zoo in Royal Oak? This is teaching them to act slightly differently but it's merely refining something that absolutely do do for fun and enjoyment themselves; i.e. the fact the Panda is holding for a set amount of time, it's not unhappy doing what it's doing by the looks of things. They're also pretty bright and bright animals actually enjoy learning tricks, as long as the method of teaching isn't abusive in of itself (using praise and treats instead of punishment)

It seems to be happy though.  I guess its the same thing with dogs.  And even humans, we need to learn new things to keep happy and keep our brains stimulated.

But I do know not all trained animals are happy.  It depends how they're treated.
