Reminds me of an event that happened quite a few years ago with the cat I had before my current one [sorry, no pics of the event]. Some friends were visiting with their newborn. My female cat was very interested in it, and stood on her hind legs to look in the bassinet, with her front legs propped on the rim. Later, the baby started crying. My cat, who had been next to it the whole time was immediately on high alert and jumped up to the rim again to see what was going on with it. When the baby's mother went to pick the baby up to check on it, my cat hissed at her.
[I don't recall having heard her ever hiss before that time.]
