Does John live through the events of the movie?

I like Paul Giammati, so I am hopeful.

I never read the book but I LOVE Don Corsacelli, who should be a MUCH bigger director.  Hopefully this film will help a bit.

Can't wait.  This is my favorite book.  The movie should be your cup of tea if you like stories about bratwurst telephones, lightbulb-humping jellyfish, invisible doors to alternate realities of naked people ruled by homophobic computers, or Fred Durst.

I've met the author and friends of mine rave about the book (which I've yet to get around to reading.) Don't sell it short due to the title.

The only place I ever heard about the book is from reading the author's contributions to Cracked.com.  This makes me want to see John Schwartzwelder's books adapted into movies, because I imagine they share a lot of the same flavor of absurdist humor.

Nah, nothing will ever be as strange as..

Tim Burton's life goal has been to make something stranger than this movie.

I'm always surprised at how people react to Return to Oz, it is strange certainly but it's the closest adaptation of the books that's been made so far and even then it doesn't quite reach the weirdness levels of the source texts.

Yeah I agree. I would add that I don't think it is any more strange then The wizard of Oz.

The movie may be strange, but having a spoiler in the title isn't that big a thing. I mean, I sat through both parts of Kill Bill and still enjoyed the ending.

As far as Return to Oz. Yeah, it's strange, and that's magnified for most people because it's darker than the Oz story they're used to. It's strange compared to the classic movie and the first book, and that's the popular view. If they kept reading the series, then they'd get into strange.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. Ant plans to riff Return to Oz eventually?
