Who the hell wrote that? Because even in the days of the late 80's I can't imagine the writer not being fired for that.
From what I've read about the producers of TNG that would not have raised an eyebrow from them.
started watching DS9. four episodes in, i dunno if it's a case of season-one-itis, but the acting isn't very good so far.

Are you talking about the TNG where they technically cloned Will Riker("Second Chances")? Or is this something that happened on Discovery? Because TBH I haven't been following Discovery at all.
and Bashir (I can't remember the actor's name) is still stuck in drama school for most of the show.
