Yes, Terri Hatcher was the one running the transporter in that episode, she had only been on a couple of shows before that, 5 or 6 years before Lois and Clark.

From what I've read about the producers of TNG that would not have raised an eyebrow from them.

started watching DS9. four episodes in, i dunno if it's a case of season-one-itis, but the acting isn't very good so far.

I think it takes Avery Brooks the longest to settle into his role, the rest are pretty well into their characters by the end of the first season.

Much like TNG (though not nearly THAT bad at first), DS9 doesn't get really good until season 3. When Avery Brooks shaves his head, that's when shit gets real

There are however some very solid episodes in seasons 1 and 2 including: Duet, Cardassians, The Maquis parts 1 and 2, Crossover, In the hands of the Prophets, and I still think Emissary parts 1 and 2 is easily the best pilot of any Trek series.

I'm sorry, which episode and series are you referring to? Are you talking about the TNG where they technically cloned Will Riker("Second Chances")? Or is this something that happened on Discovery? Because TBH I haven't been following Discovery at all.

no, on ds9, some guy accuses odo of murder and they find some biological matter in his garbage can that julian determines is genetic, so they clone it and figure out the guy killed another of his clones to frame odo. the clone that julian made is apparently alive at the end of the episode.

It's the case in that show where all the good acting is done by the secondary characters, mostly O'Brien and Garak.  Brooks is a terrible ham, Farrell can't act out of a wet paper bag, and Bashir (I can't remember the actor's name) is still stuck in drama school for most of the show.  Visitor is just a character I hate so I can't separate her from the acting very well.

Siddig El Fadil at first, then later he was known as Alexander Siddig. Got married to Nana Visitor after the show ended, if memory serves.
