I'm probably in the minority on this, but there was an episode involving elevators and giant spiders and that one creeped me out as a kid.

I'm trying to decide which is more horrifying... the devastation due to Harvey or that picture.

Everything about that image screams "90s" - the font choices, the clearly VHS-sourced image, the size...

About midway through season four of the Next Generation.  Mostly, its good at this point.  Data's Day is a lot of fun.  The Loss, however, has an interesting premise but it really only leads to really dull plots with Troi acting like a sullen teenager.

Also, great alternate title for Future Imperfect: Frosted Frakes.

The Loss, however, has an interesting premise but it really only leads to really dull plots with Troi acting like a sullen teenager.

That one suffers from 2 plots that don't work well together, the ship in danger plot was pointless.  The ship in danger plot interferes with the issue with Troi, her support system is busy saving everyone's lives.  Sure it makes her think of the moth to a flame idea, but it leaves her dealing with her loss on her own for most of the episode, and it wasn't written or directed well enough for that, Sirtis is a good enough actress to carry an episode so the problem wasn't her.  They should have resolved the ship in danger plot in the second act and then focused on Troi, the "saving the ship at the last second" was not needed in this story.

Really interesting idea that was axed for that episode was that she wasn't going to get her ability back, they toyed with the ideas of it taking a bunch of episodes to get it back, or never getting it back.  But that would create a serialized aspect to the show and that was not a thing done on syndicated TV at that time.

I think season 5 had an episode called "Disaster", where again the ship is in danger but they split it up between three teams: The bridge crew, the peeps on 10 forward and Picard trying to escape a turbolift with 3 kids. That later part I did not like because I can't stand kids on TV, especially on Star Trek. Overall though it was a good episode.

I don't necessarily mind kids, but, yeah, Star Trek often drops the ball in that department from what I've seen.

Oh, and I recently read in a Cracked article that Gate McFadden did the choreography for Labyrinth.  Which explains all her dancing in Data's Day.

Yes, she is a highly trained dancer and choreographer.

I liked Disaster, one of the best use of kids in the series, although it was a bit on the nose putting the captain with them, after he spends the opening act complaining about how much he doesn't like dealing with kids.  And of course it's another save the ship at the last second "twist", those got  to be so tiresome, there's no tension built because you know the show is coming back next week.   It actually would have been a surprise to save the ship for once with plenty of time left....

The one with a kid I like the most is the one with the girl that has her imaginary friend become real.  The girl playing the alien did a good job with her part.

I didn't like the one where the kid imitates Data after losing his mom.

Interesting that Nickelodeon's Space Cases would also use that same plot point.

The whole Cheryl McFadden thing made me think she was twins.
