#1 – Han Solo

(191 Points) 12 of 19 Lists – Highest Vote: Number 2 (Monty)
Voted by: Gunflyer, Doctor Who?, PakMan, Invader Quirk, Cole Stratton, Johnny Unusual, Darth Geek, Monty, Asbestos Bill, D. B. Barnes, Imrahil, Relaxing Dragon

Full Name: Hanover P. Solo
From: Star Wars
Planet of Origin: Corellia
Position: Captain of the Millennium Falcon, Smuggler, Scoundrel, Scruffy looking Nerf Herder

Known For: Getting frozen in carbonite, getting to take this home:

And SHOOTING FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sci Fi Themes: Smugglers with a heart of Gold

Dossier: One day, Han Solo was stroking his wookie in a bar on Tatooine, when he was approched by an old man and a kid with a Dorothy Hamill haircut. Han agrees to take the old man and wuss to Alderaan for a lot of Pesos (not sure why Pesos are the galactic currency of the Empire, but there ya go). Before Han can leave, he shoots some bounty hunter (FIRST). Han gets tangled up in some Jedi/Empire hijinks, which is annoying because he really wants to get paid until he sees Princes Leia. Being the tough macho man that he is, Han totally ignores his attraction to Leia and they start bickering like 5th graders who like each other. Han finally gets Leia in the sack (scene only available in George Lucas’ “private” collection) only to have the colt 45 dude betray him and turn him over to a bounty hunter. Leia rescues him from Jabba’s clutches and then he goes to play with Teddy Bears for an hour before Spielberg calls him to do Indiana Jones. The rest is a career with mostly good movies and Firewall.

Speaking of Han Solo, has anybody ever taken the clip of Han and Greedo shooting at the same time and
repeatedly putting it to "Turkey in the straw"?

Thank you, Anais.La.Conejita, for hosting a very fun list, despite your having to take time out during it to change your name.  ;)

As I expected, VERY few of my choices made the final cut.  Since people will, invariably, do so, let me be the first to post my list, showing just how 'out of the mainstream' I was for this.   :D  [Those in red actually made the list.]

1   Lazarus Long (Heinlein's 'Time Enough for Love')
2   Doc Savage (1933-~1939, when the spectacular was real, instead of fraud)
3   Mal Reynolds (Firefly/Serenity)
4   Frankenstein's Creature (yes, it is - at its core - Sci-Fi, not horror)
5   Tisianne brant T'sara sek Halima sek Ragnar sek Omian [aka 'Dr. Tachyon'] ('Wild Cards' series)
6   Captain Jack Harkness
7   Doctor Who (only from 2005-forward [Eccleston-on])

8   River Tam ('Firefly'/'Serenity')
9   Edward Wong Hau Pepulu Tivruskii 4th [aka just 'Edward'] ('Cowboy BeBop')
10  Adam Warlock ('Strange Tales' 'Warlock' etc.)
11  Marvelman/Miracleman (the Alan Moore treatment only)
12  Max Headroom

Actually, I think you are right. I looked it up and apparently he was originally called RoboDuck and then it changed, so that must have been why it came up in my search when I made my list.

My brain is still trying to process the fact that you voted
silly cartoon characters above the likes of Han Solo and
Hal 9000.

Does anybody rememeber Yoda's classic line from The Phantom Menace?

Burritos lead to gas
Gas leads to farts
Farts… lead to suffering!

Well done on the list, Anais!

I guess I'm more of a mainstream representative of the sci-fi genre when it comes to fandom. While I enjoy much of what it has to offer, it's not my favorite. As such, I suppose my list is appropriately mainstream.

2. Spock
3. Darth Vader
4. Crow T. Robot
5. Sulu
6. Obi-Wan Kenobi
7. Han Solo
8. Dirk Gently

Squirm! La conejita demands it!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
J.K. is known for having his office in a library atrium
This gave me a good laugh, thank you!

Grossly Overrated – Boba Fett

(0 Points) 1 of 19 Lists – Voted by: LucasM
We get it. You hate Star Wars.
Actually 'hate' isn't accurate.  I just think that things like Boba's wild popularity and the adoration toward him [prior to the prequels], when he had - what? 5-10 minutes screen time in the entire original trilogy and said nothing the whole time (or close to nothing, I forget if he talked to Hutt briefly) - it just makes no sense to me.
You know what I love about you, LucasM? You're the one person here who manages to totally eclipse my own irreverence towards Star Wars.  :D

I may have to challenge your non-mainstream status with my list (albeit we both had only 5 of our characters make the final cut).

Katonic's 25 Sci-Fi Characters:
1. Max Renn (James Woods) - Videodrome
2. THX-1138 (Robert Duvall) - THX-1138
3. Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) - Blade Runner
4. Dr. Solomon Eddie (Peter Stormare) - Minority Report
5. Pris (Daryl Hannah) - Blade Runner
6. Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) - Blade Runner
7. Zed (Sean Connery) - Zardoz
8. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) - Alien films
9. Dr. Hans Reinhardt (Maximilian Schell) - The Black Hole (1979)
10. Maximilian the Robot - The Black Hole (1979)
11. HAL 9000 - 2001: A Space Odyssey
12. Allegra Geller (Jennifer Jason Leigh) - Existenz
13. Dr Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) - The Fly (1986)
14. Gigolo Joe (Jude Law) - A.I.
15. RoboCop (Peter Weller) - RoboCop
16. H. George Wells (Rod Taylor) - The Time Machine (1960)
17. Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - Total Recall
18. Harry Tuttle (Robert De Niro) - Brazil
19. Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - The Terminator
20. Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) - The Terminator
21. Bishop (Lance Henriksen) - Aliens
22. Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss) - Close Encounters of the Third Kind
23. Dr. Clayton Forrester - MST3K
24. Crow T Robot - MST3K
25. Lobo (Tor Johnson) - Bride of the Monster

And as far as silly / bizarre characters go, here's one of my unsung choices:
--"Box" the freezer robot from Logan's Run (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0017113/, http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0017113/quotes)

Great job, Anais! And thanks for including my "worst" picks Terl & J.K. Robertson!
