Remember what I said about the movie being the source of the misuse of the symbol?

EDIT: Also I think "well perhaps Fawkes' employers would have." might not have been too clear; Catesby and his confederates wanted to institute an oppressive Catholic theocracy, a return to the sort of rule found under Mary I only with the dials up to 11.  I'm not sure that Fawkes was all that ideological really, he may have been considering how long he endured torture but we definitely know the people who hired him were.

Oh, sorry, misunderstood  you point a bit.  My bugbear (or wait, can mine be a Hobgoblin.  Those guys are cool) is obviously, the film itself, which I have gone on way too much about and for that I apologize.  The movie is fine and works on it's own merits, but to me, it's sort of like the difference between the novel Death Wish and the movie it was adapted into

Oh dear. I hate to do this, but I had Data at #9.   :-[

It's probably too much of a hassle at this point to fix it.

EDIT: Don't worry about it. This is karma for screwing up Johnny Unusual's #1 guilty pleasure movie.

How ironic is it that this also screws one of his picks?

Sorry about that. I worked really hard to get the final list together (it took 5 hours) so it pisses me off to seem I missed something :(

#41 – The Master (not the dude from Buffy or Manos)

(31 Points) 3 of 18 Lists – Highest Vote: Number 13 (TripeHoundRedux) Voted by: Doctor Who?, TripeHoundRedux, FlockofRabidSheep

Full Name: Unknown. The Master is merely a name he gave to himself
From: Dr. Who (all)
Planet of Origin: Gallifrey
Position: Antagonist
Known For: Being crazy and wanting to kill the Doctor just because

Sci Fi Themes: The antithesis of the common hero, agelessness, infinite knowledge of time/space creates insanity.

Dossier: A Time Lord from the same planet and school as our hero, David Tennant, The Master is just as intelligent as The Doctor, but has plenty more evil to go around. What his motivation is has never been stated, but he wants The Doctor gone, the world to obey him and, knowing British stereotypes, he loves Tea.

Roger Delogo is my favorite Master,he was so smooth and worked so well with Pertwee I don't mind that he turns up in every story of season 8.

Such a shame he died so early, his death is one of the main reasons Pertwee left the show.

No worries. Believe me, I know how much work goes into doing this. And hey, people make mistakes. I fucked up on both of the lists I did. The L.O.C. is resilient. It will forge on.  :)

OOh i just got a cool idea for a LOC.  Top  50 error recoveries.  You know a mistake someone makes and then still manages to do something big.  Kinda like Columbus missing india but finding the "new world" (im SURE there are better examples)

#42 – Data

My second favorite character from the show, despite his inability to process bilirubin.

#40 – V

Cool. Glad to see he got enough votes to make it. I only know the character from the film, but I found the film version to be a great, enigmatic character.

#38 – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Whoa. Only #38? This is freakin' Obi-Wan Kenobi over here!

Alec Guinness would approve, well actually he'd like him to not be on there at all but actors can't be choosers.

As the other one who voted for him, I'm ashamed of all of the rest of you.

My favorite "Kenobi" centers around some of my friends who were reading a Latin text and didn't know the word "coenobitus."  It's a Greek word borrowed into Latin from "koinos" (common) and "bios" (life) --referring to a type of monk who lives with other monks in a community, vs. the weird desert guys who live all on their own (monachoi, from 'monos' - 'single').  But the Romans used 'coenobitus' (whence our "cenobite") to just mean "monk," and I suspect that this is where our old man Kenobi gets his name from.  Lucas did a lot of pirating from old stories, so it's not impossible.

Anyway, Latin "c" is pronounced like a "k", so it would also be pronounced "kenobitus."  Just sayin'.

Reading that gave me a raging brainer

My second favorite character from the show, despite his inability to process bilirubin.

Yeah... well I know Billy Rubin... he's kinda' odd, and a little hard to process for a LOT of us!

#37 – Billy Pilgrim

(38 Points) 2 of 19 Lists – Highest Vote: Number 3 (Johnny Unusual) Voted by: Johnny Unusual, Anais.T.Kirk

Full Name: William Pilgrim
From: Slaughterhouse 5
Planet of Origin: Earth
Position: Army man, Time traveller
Known For: Time travelling as a metaphor for surviving the horror that was fighting in WW2, being a prophet for the Tralfamadorians

Sci Fi Themes: Time Travel and Aliens

Dossier: Drafted into the army in 1943, Billy Pilgrim fought in WW2, and it totally sucked. One thing that was different, was that Billy become “un-stuck” in time during his army days, and he was able to see his future, re-live his past, and end up on Tralfamadore and do it with a porn star. Once back on Earth, all he wants to do is spread the peaceful word of the Tralfamadorians….and then he is assassinated.
