Grossly Overrated – Boba Fett

We get it. You hate Star Wars.

Actually 'hate' isn't accurate.  I just think that things like Boba's wild popularity and the adoration toward him [prior to the prequels], when he had - what? 5-10 minutes screen time in the entire original trilogy and said nothing the whole time (or close to nothing, I forget if he talked to Hutt briefly) - it just makes no sense to me.

But I had a Clinical Psychology supervisor who liked the original film.  With her background and approach to film, she apparently could see something in it that I could not with my background and approach to film.

Like I said, 'hate' isn't accurate: I am more "intensely indifferent" to the films.  :)  Other people dislike stuff I care for deeply.  BFD, ultimately as it is all 'entertainment'.  And we are all entertained by different things.

What?  Boba Fett is a great comedic character.  He's so wacky!

See, he did two pratfalls and got done et up by a sabretoothed space vagina.  He's the Tom Green of a long, long time ago.

Which is weird, because he was talking about the Boba Fett action figure with the firing backpack that was discontinued.  Really, a holy grail for collectors.

Haven't seen it. It looks terrible.

Actually it was quite good.  A good celebration of just being a fan of something.

Boba said "He's worth a lot to me" to Vader

Ahhh... six words out of three films.  Average of two words per film.  [If he'd avoided conjunctions, he could've made it seven, and made it much more difficult to do the math.  ;) ]

... a holy grail for collectors.

Though I smiled at your comment, this part actually brings up one of the things that confuses me about the film(s): that there is an almost religious fanaticism about the series.  [Of course, that is true of many SciFi series, and things like football and baseball too... I can't comprehend that, either.]  To me, if it had been just the first film, it would have been a nice little allegory about spirituality and listening to one's 'inner self' to solve problems.  Forgettable, but nice to see once.  But again, I was at least 10 years too old when the first film came out to get into it deeper.  I didn't play with the toys so I didn't imbed the iconography into my head.  But a friend of mine is almost exactly 10 years my junior, and he did... and is a rabid Star Wars fan, having once - as an adult - painted a room in his house with accurately spaced, accurately depicted planets from the series, with the Death Star in one corner.

I do remember specifically when I was walking out of the theater when the original film was over thinking, "eh... but if it's successful at least it may mean Hollywood will do more science fiction, possibly something I'll really like."  And before the second film came out, at a comic convention I bought a copy of the original Star Wars movie poster [quite a good investment, as I believe it cost me about $7, and I've never displayed it, so it's still in nearly-new condition].  So I'm not totally against it, I just don't comprehend the extent people get attached to it when [from what a fan mentioned in another thread] George Lucas himself stated what I have been saying: the series/characters have little depth to them.  So all I'm saying is apparently what Lucas himself has admitted to.

I have a theory about Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi....
Boba comes to Jabba's palace, he sees no reason to
hang around, but he knows Han's buddies are going to
come looking for him And Boba, so Boba meets his
biggest fan at Jabba's palace. He never goes anywhere,
so Boba gives him a replica of his armor and rocketpack.

Therefore, the Boba Fett we saw die was NOT Boba Fett.
Ipso, Facto, simply because nobody can prove that actually
WAS Boba Fett because aside from "argghh!" nobody ever
heard him speak in ROTJ.

It had the unfunny fat guy from the ping pong movie in it, right?

As a supporting character yeah.  Also had the skinny nerd guy from tropic thunder.  Seth Rogen plays two different people in it.  The cameo list is pretty extensive with Billie D Williams, Carrie Fisher, Shatner, that guy from machete, Darth Maul, and a few others i cant remember.
