I just ran across my first one of these on this site.

http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php?topic=22443.0

Earlier today I saw one in a Youtube comment, and then, also today, I saw one in a GameFAQs message board post. Somebody seems to just go looking through forums for a word that's related to their ad and somehow turns it into a link to their ad. How are they doing this? Heck, Youtube and GameFAQs don't even have functions for posting links. I'd never seen this in a forum before today, and now I've seen three today alone. I find this to be a disturbing development.

Hmm, you may be right. I tried opening the same page in IE9 and it wasn't there. I'm using Firefox 5, and I just encountered a second one of these on GameFAQs, bringing the total to four today. I'll have to look into my plugins and whatnot and see if there's anything there that shouldn't be.

Thanks for the help.  :)

I'm doing that right now. We'll see what it finds in about 30 minutes. I already run a virus scan every night. Guess I'll have to start running this regularly too.

You got any extra "toolbars" installed? Sometimes that kinda stuff will throw in paid links too.
