Our Borders shut down a couple months ago. Their sales started out pretty lame as well. My thoughts were: "Seriously, Borders? You're coming from a position of absolutely no power here. You are doomed, Borders. You WILL take seventy percent off everything eventually." All I had to do was wait. It was a bit of a power trip for me, actually. I became a super villain in fact.

You've crossed that line between everyday villainy and cartoonish super-villainy.

I popped into my local Borders to check out the deals. The one book I wanted--Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas--was marked down to a bit more than $11. It's $9.99 on Kindle, and Kindle doesn't charge tax, either.

I did not walk away from the store empty-handed, though. I did buy a mug and an umbrella for roughly $20. So that was something.

Honestly, I almost bought the Cup of Destiny (I love divinationary tat) because at the price it's always been, $14:95, the discount would have taken it to a little under ten bucks.

I get up to the register and discover, amazingly, that some how the pre discount price is much higher than that and with the discount it's 15 bucks. Left it at the register.
