I could get used to this!! (HD RiffTrax)

MrTorso:
Been thinking about going fully digital for my riff re-authors. I haven't made a cover in probably over a year. I just don't have the time like I used to. I now have media player boxes in the living room and bedroom with plenty of gigs of space. So i have been converting my DVDs to HQ mp4s and now with a toggle of the remote I can select from many many riffs without having to change a disc.  Now I am becoming a HD snob. So I started looking at HD mkv files. I use them all the time for TV shows and movies and I finally figured out a couple of tools for demuxing so I can mix the riffs. I probably won't go full 1080p for a while as they take up a good chunk of space and I want to still be able to back files up to DVD-R so I am going 720p. You can get a blu-ray down to 4.37gb at 720p and still look pretty darn good. Here is a sample of a 720p Crater Lake Monster I whipped up as a test.

www.bigmeanpunk.com/MKV/FinalCrater.mkv     (40mbs use VLC or similar to view)

The first full riff I am going to remix is Road House. May as well make the very first RiffTrax the first HD one I watch.

Cool!! :o
I may look into this for choice RiffTraxs like ID4, 5th Element, Star Wars and Star Treks..

ManUnderMask:
You should do an HD Time Chasers, then you can be an HD Castleton Snob!

Skyroniter is doing Blu-ray upconverts of MST3K episodes! I have to see what the final outcome of those look like but I can't see them looking that much better to justify the time and expense.

k1:
Cool stuff.
