Nope, don't like it. Can only play Divx-home-theater-profile files. So I'll just have to download the mpg and transcode it. :/ Please bring back the Divx files!!

I think there is more testing and some tweeking needed on the MP4s

Ipod Classic and Iphone 3G:    Does not sync at all, so they are unusable.
Original AppleTv:    Poor picture quality.   The movie went all pixelated and blocky at several points.   An example is the transition scene from the ants to the spider web.   It was very blocky for a few seconds.   This happened a lot during transition scenes where the screen had to basically refresh and show an entire new image.

Perhaps the wrong version of the MP4 was uploaded?

Since I tend to watch most of the shorts either on my iphone or appletv, this probably means I won't be purchasing in the future.

The new .mp4 file isn't working on my iPod (classic, 120 gb) either.  Anything I can do about that?  I've got literally every other Rifftrax short on my iPod; would like to keep the streak alive.

I think we're going to test a new file. I could send you a private link to one if you'd like to help us test.

No, it's the right one. Plays fine on my iPad but we don't have an AppleTV to test on.

So wait, do you want us to keep testing? Or are you just not going to purchase anything in the future? Seems like they are two diametrically opposing opinions.

I work REALLY hard on the site. (Not the forum so much.) I'd love it if you bought me a beer via PayPal!

Are you sure about that? Most players that can play .divx can also play .mp4. What are you watching them on?

i have a feeling the word "probably" is contingent on whether or not an improved mp4 profile is found.

I don't know how many people are using an ipod classic, but a bunch are still using an original iphone, so it sounds like we need to find something that's a bit more universally compatible.

Do "I" want you to keep testing?   Well, as a fan of a site that puts out a product I like, I would prefer if the site released products that worked on the most common mobile MP4 players (ipods, iphones) so their sales would stay or or even increase.   Releasing products that I personally could not use and many other could not use runs counter to that desire, so yes, "I" would like some more testing to get the MP4s working for everyone.   But I understand that is purely Rifftrax's decision of course.

"You really need multiple places to post this? Let's keep everything in the same thread. http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php/topic,22188.msg639553.html"

I guess I was silly trying to post an issue in the "Technical Issue" tread.   :-\

If you ever need someone to test something on appleTV, I'm your guy   PM me anytime and I can do testing in the evening and weekends.   There are probably folks who would volunteer to test other types of MP4 players like PS3, DVD players, etc.    Also, if you want someone to test items like ipod classic, it sounds like there a few people (including me) on this thread who would be able to test that as well as it seems to be a fairly common device with the same problem for all.   With that many folks to choose from, someone would probably be available for fast turn around.

For those of you having trouble i tried to post a link to the free program I use to convert Mp4 files to .mov or any other file type I need but for some reason it got flagged as spam.

Do a google search for youtube downloader and one of the first hits should be it.  It's solved the problem of getting video files to work on my iPod for me.

First of all, thanks for the information, did not know that!

I think the long term downside to that solution is you would end up with two sets of MP4s in iTunes for the same file, the mp4 (for burning on DVDs, appletv, etc.) and .mov (for ipod....and iphone?).

Well I just create to separate folders in my documents,1 for my iPods files and one for the larger files.  the .mov files don't take up more then a couple of hundred MBs at the most so they don't take up that much extra space.  i'm not pretending it is perfect but it's better then not having the file work at all on my iPod.
