Yeah, there was a lot of potential in the live action show. The world wasn't quite ready for live action heroes in brightly colored spandex suits. I think it's ready now...

I'd rather it be a movie.  A good one would be preferable.

My dream would be to see an adaptation of the "Night of a Million Zillion Ninjas" story arc.

I'd much rather they brought back the cartoon Tick.  I felt it was more coherent and 'adult in its cleverness' than the live-action one.

Written by the same guy (creator, Ben Edlund... love every one of his Supernatural episodes! ... and his Firefly episodes of course).... so I have a big feeling it was the network pressure for the live-action that they wanted it more "sitcom"

That's very true, it was way too 'sitcom-y' for me (as sitcoms and I do not get along).  But I think an issue that will be present even if the sitcominess is removed is simply: budget.  There's no way that they can do the crazy stuff that happens in the Tick's world on any kind of reasonable budget, if they do it live action.  Computer animation/special effects are pricey.  Animating craziness isn't really any more expensive than animating normalcy.

I get a strong feeling that in 5 years, people will be saying "Why did I not watch this?!?"

I, for one, am looking forward to it.

I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into another Cop Rock.

Cop Rock would have worked if it had had Alan Menken behind it.

I love that show.  I don't know why it wasn't more popular.

Same reason Andy Richter Controls The Universe wasn't more popular.  The people who have Neilson boxes are mostly dumb dumbs with poor taste.

Now you can watch the pilot for Pistol Pete, a show from legendary Simpsons writer John Swartzwelder.  It's not as good as it could be, but there are some very solid jokes in this one.

Is there anything this guy isn't involved with?!? Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Damon Lindelof Developing Tom Perrotta's 'The Leftovers' at HBO

Quote
Damon Lindelof has found his first TV series project since ABC's Lost. The former co-creator of the island-set drama is developing a small-screen adaptation of author Tom Perrotta's novel The Leftovers at HBO, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Lindelof will co-write the project with Perrotta under his rich three-year deal with Warner Bros. Television. HBO will produce the effort alongside WBTV. Perrotta will also executive produce with Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger. Should the project move forward from its development status, Lindelof would serve as showrunner.

Leftovers, which was published in May, revolves around the Rapture and follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton after the sudden departure of more than 100 people as they begin to rebuild their lives after their mysterious disappearance.

The Lost co-showrunner inked a three-year deal with WBTV earlier this month, marking his return to TV after Lost's six-season run. More recently, he helped develop former Lost scribes Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz's ABC drama Once Upon a Time, which was renewed for a second season in May.

In addition to the co-writing Prometheus, Lindelof has the upcoming Star Trek sequel as well as Disney's 1952 set up on the big screen.

I like the concept; seems to lend itself quite well to his style. The fact that it's HBO bodes extra well, too.

Has anyone else watched this??  I've watched 5 episodes so far (of the 10) and I just love this show. It's so bleak, yet wonderful.

I'm not even done with season 1 yet, but I'm already excited for season 2.
